Does Breast Cancer Raise CA125

Diagnosed with OC in 2017 and recurrence in 2020. In Oct.2023, CA125 rose to 18. Jan. '24, CA125 rose to 29. Feb. rose to 30. Oncologist and surgeon suggested waiting another 30 days and retest CA125. CT scan scheduled in case it crosses the 35 threshold. Yesterday I had a diagnostic mammogram and they did a biopsy on what is probably breast cancer, 1cm irregular shaped. Can breast cancer raise the CA125? Anybody know. Thanks for always helping me out.

The short answer to that is that yes it can. I was dx with ovarian cancer in 2005 and have been NED since 2008. I developed breast cancer last year and my CA125 did rise, but not to the high levels that it did when I was dx with ovarian cancer.

The following article is a bit old, but it discusses the relationship between CA125 and breast cancer. There are other markers that are used with breast cancer.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Hope this helps.
