CA 15-3 is a marker for cancer activity but can also show up for benign tumours as well. Keep an eye on it. Try different natural things and try to get the marker down if possible. If your mum can take other repurposed drugs and vits it may well be beneficial.
what type of immunotherapy did your mother take? is it ER positive, HER- or HER+?
Mine was as high as 8000 at some point (its 400 right now on my current treatment). My doc uses that number as well as scans to decide treatment protocol. It also depends - as noted above, on cancer type. Perhaps ask about capcetibine/Xeloda which is oral chemo and did wonders for me for over a year. There are many options...also Ibrance...
Poke around this site and read about other experiences especially those in your neck of the woods because US insurance (mine) can be so different.
herceptin + Er neg . She very elderly 91 at diagnosis now 94 . I’m going back to the oncologist to see where we re at . Difficult to get treatment when you re elderly . My granny her mother was 97 didn’t take any medication only sick 2 days before her death .
Insurance not a problem she has the top insurance plan and she’s been in it since 1966 so in fairness to them they ve paid for immunotherapy and everything for her no problem.
Some drugs, and Xeloda is one of them, have harsh side effects. At 94, surely quality of life matters?
None of us want to face our own mortality but it’s not something we can avoid forever. An elderly friend who was diagnosed at 84 had no treatment and lived to 90.
If you have any doubt about a treatment, ask the doctor what he would do if the patient was his mother. And very likely he would do the same for his mother as he’s suggested for your mother.
Advocating for our elderly parents can be difficult but it’s important not to focus solely on length of life. You’re doing a fine thing for your mother and I’m sure she appreciates you but she also knows that time marches on. Stay strong!
All the best
