Need help….no more gamma option for liver Mets. I can’t take fulvestrant. Anyone know of a good drug to keep liver Mets at bay, I currently have two new ones. Have been on Afinitor and exemestane since about 2007.

hi I live in uk and have multiple liver mets

I’m currently taking vinorelbine chemo oral drugs and my recent ct scan came back as improvement .

This may be an option for you

My mom has quite a story—she has multiple lesions in her liver and bones and has been stable on IV vinorelbine for the last six months. Can you share more about your cancer? What’s your Ki-67? Which meds have you taken, and for how long? Any side effects? How are you feeling?

I’ve been dx since 2006. Have been on Afinitor and Exemestane since 2007 with liver mets showing up about 5 yrs in. They have responded well to gamma radiation (19 treatments total) but I’m no longer able to have the gamma. They are afraid more treatments in the same area will spike liver failure. My MDs want me to change oral chemo meds. Making me nervous since I’ve developed allergic reactions to most meds. I’m hoping to get through this with the help of a good oral chemo, but this week my radiation oncologist and I had the “quality vs quantity” talk. My only issues now are some right sided discomfort, mild nausea and the usual fatigue that, it seems, comes with any chemo. Sigh…..

Thank you so much. I’m in the USA so I’m not sure which meds you are on but will check with my MD. So glad you have had improvement! Wishing you continued success 🙂

Figleft,

I will be starting Enhertu at the end of this month, my first treatment on IV chemo. I have tried all the treatments for Er positive Her2 negative. (Low) I have Mets to spine and now one on liver. Can you tell me what your side effects are on Enhertu? How much hair loss?

I hope your stable condition continues for a long time. Blessings.

Debbie

I have a few sparse areas but my hair is growing. It still sheds and is in my brush daily .I wear visors(I live in Florida) and these mostly hide my sparse areas. My only side effects are on day 4-8 after infusion.I then have greater fatigue and nauseous feelings which my Doc gave me meds for..

My Breast Cancer metastisized to liver and bone but has remained stable on Enhertu.

All the best to you!

Are you on the highest dose of Enhertu, or have you had to change dosage?

Thank you Figlet, your response is very helpful.

Take care.

Have you looked into histotripsy? Impressive newer technology that liquifies liver mets using high intensity, ultra focused ultrasound waves. FDA approved for liver is U.S.

Thanks Trissh! Unfortunately, our cancer center does not offer histotripsy. I’m stuck using only one facility because of our insurance. No other centers are covered even for second opinions 😔

My Wife's Liver Mets, which came on heavily while on Truqap, was switched by her Oncologist over to Xeloda ( Capecitabine ) and her last two Pet Scans now show Zero Liver Mets.

Are you in Medicare? I ask because they cover second opinion.

Hi Helen, I only have Medicare A. We are covered by the insurance we have from the hospital my husband works at. It’s a decent center but certainly not Sloan Kettering

I have been taking Kisqali and exemestane with great results. Before Kisqali I was taking Affinator and exemestane with great results but developed an allergy to the affinitor

Sounds hopeful. Thanks so much. I’ve been on Exemestane for years and would like to continue since I do well with it as far as side effects go.

I was on enhertu for liver and brain Mets. When that stopped working, I went to eribulin and the liver Mets are decreasing.

Thank you Buffwright! Only Eribulin? Congratulations on the decreasing mets!

Yes, just eribulin.

Have you had Xeloda? It’s quite effective. It’s chemo but not IV. But really you should get info from your onco, as I/we don’t have all your info.

Thank you! I have it on my list to ask my oncologist. I have developed what may be mast cell syndrome where I have allergic reactions to anything…..I can’t do contrasts, local anesthesia, morphine, fentanyl, Fulvestrant about did me in etc so I get really nervous about new meds. I relied on the gamma. Now meds are my only chance.

I am on Enhertu ( I am Her2 low). It has drastically reduced my liver mets. You may want to ask if you qualify. I wish you good luck and may God Bless you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
