estrogen cream

Hi! I’m wondering if any of you ladies have tried estrogen vaginal cream? My oncologist said it’s safe at the percent (I think .01? 1?) prescribed for menopausal women … apparently a study tenderly concluded that women with breast cancer are safe to use this medication to help with the symptoms of lack of estrogen — I had my ovemaries removed at 45 and then started letrozol — I’m now 52 married and decided to try this cream to see if there is any life to be had in that area of my married life … I was diagnosed stage 4 at 45 and I’m 7 years in on Letrozole alone. I figure that I can always stop and reverse anything — with stage 4 it’s basically a reversing game anyway — if that makes sense? Thank you for sharing any information on this you may have!

Hi TwithBC, I had early stage breast cancer at 36 years old and once I was 5 years out, I did try the estrogen cream vaginally. I didn't use it long because I was so concerned about cancer returning and I didn't use tamoxifin for long (which was the only thing available in 1998) because of way too many side effects for me. I have vaginal atrophy from menopause. I use vaginal moisturizers and that has worked for me, about two to three times a week. I personally don't need vaginal estrogen (at least right now) because I am not in a relationship but I might if sex is painful and the vaginal moisturizers aren't enough. I read studies that vaginal estrogen was safer in women with hormone negative tumors but it's more of a risk with hormone positive tumors. If it were me, I would have my oncologist monitor my blood hormone levels while I was using vaginal estrogen that way I could know if the levels are creeping up to where I need to take a break from the vaginal estrogen. Hugs 🤗 Alicia

I was told definitely not. I use Hyalofemme, recommended by nurses. It's worked wonders for me and solved my vaginal atrophy. It's also worked for non MBC friends going through menopause. X

Loooked that stuff up. (That’s what I have—vaginal atrophy ☹️) REALLY appreciate this information. Never even heard of this—even in my research. Thanks again.

at fifty and flatlining estradiol levels, my oncologist agreed for me to use Premarin, I believe it was called. Both fd and mo said the estrogen level would be fine, and my bc was er+. Notwithstanding, after a few applications I just couldn’t use it because the smell made me almost gag. I really didn’t understand why they would lace a product like that with fragrance. Absolutely off putting for me, so I can’t really advise if it would help. If mo approves though, why not give it a try?

Oh NO. I have not opened and smelled my prescription. If it smells I TOO won’t be able to use it. I hate fragrance!!

I recommend Replens to get the oven cooking with gas again. It is a product that uses nanotechnology to improve the old lubricants… no estrogen but makes you feel young again! My female medical oncologist recommended to use as directed and then some directly on the outside of our lady bits to help get the party started. It’s worked for me!

I'm oestrogen positive However since diagnosis in 2019 I've been taking oestrogen pessaries. Top oncologist says its very low dose and localised so safe to use. For a long time I took it 2 x a week but earlier this year I was having recurring bladder infections so my doctor advised I increase the dose. No more bladder infections and body scans are stable.

I need to post more I am ALWAYS blessed by the responses. Maybe only really cool and great people get breast cancer … I’m seeing a trend! Good luck to me (God, please bless my oven so my loving husband and I can enjoy this part of being together — he is suffering, too.) let’s get it on! Thanks again for sharing your experiences and knowledge with me!

The Royal Marsden Hospital - Centre of excellence for Oncology told me I could not use Oestrogen Pessaries. I did use them whilst on Tamoxifen durning my primary but it’s a no no with my secondary taking Letrozole and Ibrance. I use ‘YES VM or YES WB complimented with Sylk’

I started using Estradiol Vaginal Cream USP 0.01% about 2 months ago on the recommendation of my oncologist as I was getting frequent UTI's. I have not had a UTI since I started.
