D3 lowers estrogen in blood!

I bought a kiddie pool so I could lay out and get some sunshine. I grew up on an island and I love the water ... ANY water! So I bought it solely for my enjoyment. Then I come across this article from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center on how D3 lowers estrogen and this interests me because I recently had to stop letrozole because of crazy high blood pressure (again) even after quadrupling my bp meds ... anyway, long story short, I researched and found out 30 minutes out in the sun gives you approx. 10,000 - 20,000 IU's of vitamin D3 and that your body stores it in fat, but the best thing is how it STRENGTHENS BONE! I feel like this was sent to me by Father God because I had NONE of this in mind when I bought that pool, I just wanted some rays! TY Jesus, I know it was you ... coincidence, NO ... God-incidence YES! I had to share and here's the link! you'll have to look up the IU's from sunshine on your own but I read it didn't have to be everyday and that your body stores it and just in time for summer! <3 God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen!

you're welcome! I love it when I find a nugget and you all are the first to hear it! something I've heard all my life but didn't understand or ever read about WHY sunshine is so good for you; I knew vitamin D but never realized how MUCH you get in just a little BIT! :)

Thanks for sharing this information. I am in the sun every day playing golf but I wear long sleeves to protect my arms from too much sun, a hat and sunscreen so I am not sure how much sun actually gets through. But it feels good to be out in the sun. I was also interested in your comment about Letrozole raising your blood pressure. I have been on letrozole for over 2 1/2 years and am also on BP meds and my blood pressure is always very high when I go to the oncologist despite my healthy eating and exercise every day. I never related it to letrozole. Going to ask my oncologist about that at my next visit.

yes, I had been on it almost 5 years with no problems then wham! I had quit ibrance in the beginning in 2018 because of chest pains, now I wonder if I didn't blame the wrong drug, as back on ibrance and doing good. I can't tell my onc because they say they won't let you take ibrance without an aromatase inhibitor and I don't want my ibrance taken away, and I don't want anymore inhibitors at almost 70, how much estrogen could be left in my body? thus, the sunshine. my calcium levels always look good on my bloodwork, but rotten femur and bone density test showed osteoporisis. That's why I was so happy to find out about the sunshine! <3 xo Keep on golfing, I wish I had learned but never too late just too lazy LOL (ME!!!)

I have been keeping an eye on the moving target of optimum Vit D3 levels for all around better health. Supplementation can be challenging for anyone with any liver impairment. I ask my Onc to check the level a couple times a yr and She desired initially to ride around 30 which I achieved with some Sun plus supplements, now she says a level greater than 30 is better so now I'm at 50 but taking 5,500 units/d. I need to look for some not in Corn or Soy Oil filled gel. I love the Sun but it does not return the favor, Dermatologist here I come๐Ÿ‘

well, the sun doesn't love me so much anymore either but the skin still turns brown while the face puffs up and burns so will cover THAT part from now on ... I had really been living in the shadows all these years. living in Texas is so breathlessly hot, you learn to just run from a/c to a/c. I was amazed when I read that you get 10,000 - 20,000 IU's in just 30 minutes or it may have been 15, my memory is terrible! the most amazing thing is I will find something for my pleasure then it turns out it is also aligned with my treatment. I am constantly amazed at how the Lord leads us, HE is our closest Friend, indeed, and thank You Jesus! <3

I don't know how old you are, but an integrative doctor told me that our bodies stop making D3 after age 50.... so supplementing may be in order! :-)

I have always been in the sun a lot, not lying out, but the things I like to do mean being in the sun. I don't wear lotion. Not much. Suddenly, my D is a little low, so increased supplement. I am sure I will be too high again in July because I am just starting to spend time in the sun. I couldn't understand why I didn't have skin cancer, since my parents and sibling did. Went to dermatologist last week -- and I do have basal cell. Have to have surgery to take it out. How odd. It is on my back, so easy to keep it out of the sun.

I've never worn lotion either, I have an olive complexion and now I put on lotion AFTER the sun and I cover my face because instead of tanning now, the facial skin gets red and puffy! Old age ... gotta love it LOL I was just shocked at the amount of D3 you get with 30 minutes of sun, I had been trying to figure out how much I needed to up my dosage and read 2000 IU per day and was elated to find that I could get 20,000 in 30 minutes and not have to choke down more pills! I've never had skin cancer, nor any of my family. Hubby had a suspicious mole removed but that's it. prayers for you that yours is resolved easily! my friend got rid of hers from some kind of concoction, but I don't remember what it was ... common ingredients. I will ask her!

Vitamin D levels something many struggle with. Many not knowing how important it is. The only way to know for sure is by testing. My Onc wants my levels between 90-110 ng/ml. The normal range is 30-150 ng/ml (per my blood test results). From what I have read and my test results it seems unlikely to get too much vitamin D (unless dosing at a very high daily dose). I am currently taking 9000iu a day and will test aging at the end of this month. Vitamin D absorption from the sun has a lot of variables such as body composition, sun angle, geographic location, age, skin type. It is always best to test and not guess.

I live at 54.5 deg N latitude. Summertime there is plenty of sun, but in winter we live with 16 hours of night and very low sun + cold and cloud cover in the day. Very difficult psychologically and physically. My NHS onc doesn't seem interested in supplementation or blood testing for vit D, or tumour markers either. I don't know how to check outside what is offered to me within the healthcare system. I do take vit D for at least half the year when it would be virtually impossible to get any sun. Any other people here in the UK facing a similar dilemma?

someone had said they're getting a sun lamp ... now I remember I wanted to look it up and see how much D3 you can get from a sunlamp. maybe you who told me that will see this and say ... I do apologize for my terrible memory, but I've had it all my life, so it's def not getting better with age! <3

I believe it's no coincidence that I moved to Florida a few months before being diagnosed with MBC. Someone was putting me in the right place! I love being in the sun. Summer time heat here can be a lot. That's when I spend hours in the pool. Sunshine, I believe, is healing to the body & soul.

I believe so too, no aches or pains since I started laying out a bit .... never had many mind you but especially the leg where I had the titanium rod put in because of a broken femur, it would ache a bit sometimes, not since getting sunshine ... amazing! God is! <3

Good for you! Yes, D3 is an important supplement for bones. Do be careful about skin cancer but thirty minutes a day seems right to build up the vitamin d. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
