I’m so enjoying my month visit to Nz seeing old friends! Also saw my old oncologist here in Nz who wants me to think about having my ovaries out to help my verzenio treatment work better even though I am 62!
When chemo pushed me into menopause back when I was 44, it aprarently allowed my ovaries to rest and then came roaring back to life when I was 58 with what the Onc called “ having some ovarian reserve” So now I will go back to USA oncologist in Boston to discuss oopherectomy. My USA onc has also been concerned about the estrogen fueling my ER+ cancer such that he started me recently back on Lupron which I had been on for years back when I was premenopausal so that I could be on letrozole. . I wonder if there are Any other older gals 60+ Still getting Lupron shots?

Sorry I can’t help with your question, but had to comment on your pic! You look fantastic and the scenery is stunning. Glad to see you enjoying life and staying active. How do you like using the walking poles? I was thinking of getting some.
I also don't have a response to your question, but wanted to say you look awesome and the landscape is beautiful! I hope you find some answers to your question. If you go ahead with the ovary removal, I will pray that goes well for you. Sending hugs.
Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your vacation! I'm so glad you got to go! My first oncologist insisted on my going on Zoladex since I was not through menopause yet. It seemed like an awful idea to me. I changed oncologists at that point since my first oncologist refused to hear my concerns and tried to shut me down for them. This all happened within days of being diagnosed metastatic. My metastatic diagnoses was in late July of 2019, my oncologist set up Zoladex implants (similar to Lupron) and wouldn't hear of anything else. I met my new oncologist in early August. She worked with my Ob/Gyn and they got me in the hospital to have my ovaries removed on August 11, 2019. Even my insurance company was all in and on board. The surgery took less than 10 minutes and done! Recovery was a breeze and I started Letrozole/Ibrance within 10 days of the oopherectomy. If you have lobular carcinoma it's best to have your ovaries removed because the ovaries are the number one favorite place for it to go. Plus there are benefits of not having more chemicals in our bodies to deal with and it lowers any chance of the endocrine therapies not working perfectly because after the oopherectomy, we are 100% menopausal, guaranteed. I have no regrets going this route. I hope you enjoy your wonderful vacation!!
