Had a good year on Taxol and it knocked my CA15 down to almost normal but its creeping back up and my PET shows new activity.
We discussed a ton of options and I am grateful there are so many. We also re-ran my original tumors through some more advanced genetic testing.
The bottom line next drug is Carboplatin. I start next Monday. Three weeks on one week off.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback from anyone who has had this chemo. I already have no hair but curious if this will keep me bald. Also, chemo nurses say worst side effect is nausea.
Thanks!

I had cytoxan, Adriamycin (both drip) and taxotere(push) Started the first of January 2009 for 5 months thru May 2009. Every 3 weeks. No neusea only food tasted like soap. My hair fell out after 30 days of treatment and came back 3 months after treatment stopped. I was on tamoxifin till 2019. Diagnosed with metastatic in my sturmun December 2021. I used my vein for chemo. Have the same onc since January 2009. Had a good 13 years with no issues. My original diagnosis was Stage 3B so I was pretty sure it would come back. December 2008 had bilateral masectomys. Implants removed may 2021. If I hadn't had the explant my cancer would probably have not been found. This all has been a hard journey but I am glad i had chemo. I am on Ibrance and Faslodex now but may switch to chemo pills after my PET scan the end of this month. I found chemo easier to handle than the side effects of this path. I wish you the best and being bald is the least of the problems with this disease.
One round down. Nurses say hair will be gone (I haven't had hair for a year so it doesn't matter) and biggest side effect will be nausea - probably later this afternoon when the pre-meds (steroids and Zofran) wear off. I have Zofran and some other harsher anti-nausea med here at home plus my trusty ginger chews so I am hopeful that I am prepared. PLUS, I am now officially retired and don't have to worry about going to the office and hurling in the public restroom. Fingers crossed. I also think this drug treatment will only last as long as I can handle toxicity which nurses say will increase so I suppose I won't get a year off this one, but I'll keep praying and trusting God.
