Hello! my mom who lives in India, has MBC - stage IV, Grade 3 Invasive Breast Carcinoma - which has metastasized to both her lungs and liver. She started endocrine therapy a month ago and is on Anastrazole (1mg). Yesterday she tested positive for covid. Has anyone here tested positive for covid? Can anyone suggest how we should treat mom's covid? Her oncologist wants us to consult an intensive care physician. All inputs are appreciated🙏🏼

My 84 year old mom who has MBC (metastasized to lungs and liver) has Tested Positive for Covid
I am one of the lucky ones who have not had a brush with covid. Still, I want to reach out to you and your mom with good wishes and prayers for her safe return to health. I think our bodies as separate from the cancerous invaders. I hope your mom has a strong body, one to repel the invaders and to have a good life.
ANKN, why doesn’t your mom’s oncologist get the antiviral, Pfizer just released?? Biden is taking it. If you use it early it’s supposed to be effective!
ANKN25,
I had Covid in January of this year, and my symptoms were next to none. I have had colds that were worse than my Covid. I am not 84, like your Mother, but 62. I would say that she should contact her primary care doctor. If she has symptoms she definitely should talk to some because of her age.
I hope that she had the shots and boosters too, and that she will be feeling well again soon.
Best,
Colleen
Hi Ankn25, I have mets in both lungs. I tested covid positive on Sunday. Started steroids dexamethasone yesterday and due to start Paxlovid today. I hope that helps. There is information about both drugs online
Check on running an IV dose of monoclonial antibodies instead of Paxlovid. Two friends got bounce back Covid from that like Dr.Fauci and Pfizer is recording what is happening to people. I had Covid in March 2020 and the difference between it then and now is pronounced. The strains now are less virulent. I did stop taking Ibrance then, but there were no drugs to take or testing to be had!! We learned it later with antibody counts.
I also am one of the lucky ones who have not had Covid but I know if I did I would see my family doctor right away.
Cheers, June S.
I'm sending hugs and prayers to your mom!
Hi ANKN25! Sorry to hear about your mom…I am now 8 days into testing positive for Covid. The latest antiviral is Paxlovid which can shorten the length and severity of the virus. That is what Biden is taking. My family doctor suggested my not taking it but to just treat the symptoms as it can cause severe diarrhea and vomiting which I was already experiencing. If she can get it and she is within the first five days of diagnosis it may work great for her. My doctor suggested a Tussin/Mucinex combo for all the coughing and chest congestion and Flonase nasal spray for all of the head/nasal symptoms which has worked very well for me. Best to your mom…
Thank you! Hope you are feeling better! I dont exactly know why mom is not getting Paxlovid.. She was prescribed molnupiravir. Luckily she saw her doc on the 3rd day of developing symptoms and testing positive. She just started to show improvement and luckily no diarrhea or vomiting so far. Thank you for the other inputs which I will take up with her doc if needed. Thanks again.
Great to hear!
I can't offer advice on what to do, but I will say a prayer for your mom Amen!
