I am on Ibrance and have been for five years.. I have been having headaches.

Tonight, I had a horrible balance problem and fell. Anyone else have this experience?

Occasionally. Though not necessarily a balance problem, but I'll have dizzy spells that are sometimes accompanied by nausea. My first Onc put me on Ondansetron & Meclizine. She thought the initial chemo treatments would affect me then, but they only did once in a great while. The Ibrance is worse. The meds help, but I'm taking them more often. & it doesn't help that I seem to have developed a tooth infection in my one & only lower molar. Hope this helps. Maybe your Oncologist can check for any hidden infections? 🙏

Thanks for the info.

Hi thereA fall is both unnerving and embarrassing (if out in public).

I would inform your Oncologist or nurse of the fall, especially if it related to a headache or a sudden leg weakness.

Falls can happen for many reasons, including ears, eyes, medications, but for us, with this disease, it could be to do with our mbc. Best for your own mind as well to let your Dr investigate.

Keep upright

I had vertigo where the room spins for hours.

I was diagnosed with Ménière’s Disease …it involves the middle ear. Not much they can do for it. Doesn’t sound like what you experienced.

Maybe call your onc and GP and get checked out.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately for us, we cannot know sometime whether a condition is independent of or related to our illness. Furthermore, we do not know if treating one will affect the other

Yes, I'd check with a brain MRI asap. My wife has mets to brain, causes blind spot and had a seizure this week, we now urgently need to get brain metastases dealt with either by wbrt or SRS. It's not nice but I'd really recommend as brain MRI asap. XXX ♥️

This can be symptoms of brain problem but then again it could be nothing. Important to speak to someone asap. in case 🤞

I had falls. My legs would collapse under me. I now put my feet squarely on the floor and wait a few seconds before I stand up. In bed I put one foot on the floor before I sit up. Supposed to let your brain know that you are changing how your body will be. Do you sleep on two pillows? My cardiologist said that is a signal you have heart or breathing problems. I also had a heart attack besides my MBC, and on medication which had helped my dizzy problem.

Don’t self diagnose. The doctors I’ve been to have directed me and we made good decisions together.

Feel better. I was only on Ibrance for a short time, then Letrozole, then Xeloda, now Piqray. Our body is in charge. Our mind has to play catch up. Be well. Just one good day at a time. Reenie

Thank you for sharing your experience. Mine, I think, was similar to yours. My legs went and the more I tried to recover my balance the worse it got.

Yes keep hydrated. I was so dehydrated during Covid I was hospitalized for 6 days. Miserable. If I didn’t go I would have died. No caffeine. I drink water and decaf tea and decaf iced tea. On Amazon I order cinnamon clove tea. It’s good hot or cold. Get a note to your oncologist right away. Be well. Reenie

Thanks again for letting me know. I care. Let me know what the doctor says. I may learn something too. We are sisters in keeping ourselves as healthy as possible. Be well. Reenie

Be sure to check with your doctor, but in the mean time try not to stress. Sometimes dizziness can be caused by something easy to remedy, like dehydration. Hoping you didn't get hurt in the fall.

Will do. I was not hurt fortunately but I cannot say as much for my courageous closet door that broke my fall.

I'm generally dizzy after my 3 week cycle. I then need 2 weeks off to recover from low wbc and low platelets.

Thank you. This dizziness and the fall are new for me. I really appreciate hearing about the experiences of others. After 4 years on Ibrance 125, I had two blood transfusions because ofwbc and low platelets. You are the first person I have heard from to have that condition also. My doctor reduced my dosage to Ibrance 100 and I have not had any more blood problems.

Hi Neosha, I have been on Ibrance 125 mg. for 17 months with relatively no side effects until recently. I have been getting headaches although not severe. I’ve never been one for getting headaches generally all my life. I also get a little dizzy out of the blue just walking along and feel like I might fall over. I describe it to my husband as feeling “wonky”. Curious to know where in your 3 week cycle of Ibrance this happened. I have noticed for me it is the end of the second week. Since I’ve become aware of this I plan to be extra careful during that time, not go anywhere alone, careful getting up and making a note of when this happens to discuss with my Onc. It sounds like yours is severe enough to possibly require a dosage adjustment or after 5 years on Ibrance it may not be the med at all. (Reassuring to a lot of us that you’ve gotten 5 years so far on Ibrance though 👏). I wouldn’t wait until your next visit. Give a call to your Onc team as soon as possible. Please let us know how you are doing. Wishing you the best..

Thanks for weighing in. Unfortunately. I have had migraines on and off since I was very young. I do not have them as often now. Hence my concern when they occurred at and around the time of my fall. A while back, during the annual physical, my primary told me that losing balance is also aged related. I will be 74 in October. She suggested some stress exercises. Oh for the days when I could do sit-ups! However, given that I do have headaches, I have been hesitant to do the exercises she suggested. I do not want to wake the Headache Monster. Because of you-know-what my mobility is constricted. I can walkbut not long distances.

Good morning! I haven't had any headaches, but I have had dizziness while on Ibrance (five years for me, too). Luckily, I didn't fall. The spells are short, but on occasion intense to the point I have to grab the wall (or my husband!) to stay upright, then it's gone. Haven't noticed if it happens on my off week - will have to pay attention. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Thank you so much. As I commented to someone else, given our condition and medication side effects then to have another problem on top like a cold, it is hard to know what is triggering what and if it is harmful. I haven't had another "episode" since the one I reported but to be on the safe side I am walking around with my cane.

Hi, I don't know if my information will be helpful. I am also on Ibrance. I have been taking the combo of Ibrance and Letrozole for over two years and yes I do have some balance problems. And lately I have had some mini-headaches. Not sure if the headaches are a real concern because they can be caused by my diet experiments. I am however doing well on The Ibrance and Letrozole combination. My last year has shown no evidence of disease. Lately, I am doing some fasting to lose some weight. I need to lose about 8 to 10 pounds and that might help me with balance. I am sorry you fell unexpectedly and you should tell your Oncologist. He or she might be able to pinpoint what is causing the dizziness or lack of balance. Let us all know if you get the problem solved. Hugs Marlene

I. agree with the women who say that you should call your doctor and possibly have a scan asap.

That said I was having headaches and dizziness on Ibrance and my doctor said it was likely due to dehydration He recommended I add electrolyte tablets to my water (I use the NUUM brand) and drink even more than I think I need. this helped a lot. Ibrance is notorious for being dehydrating.

You can at least try this in the meantime while you’re waiting to be seen by your doctor. it certainly won’t hurt you and it might help.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out

have been on Ibrance, Anastrozole, and Zoladex for seven years; still first line of treatment. headaches and migraines have been part of my life. they became worse when on Ibrance. the onc referred me to a neuro onc for a brain MRI. started on migraine meds a few years ago.they help. have noticed dizziness at times, too. had a fall in the middle of the night in April 2020 b/c i got up too fast, the feet did not have time to communicate with the brain.
