My Winter Cheer - Australian Fuchsia -

On a cold grey day like today, when my aches and pains are worse I look around at my plants to make me smile.

My Australian Fuchsia will flower all winter long. My MBC thoughts are reduced somewhat when I see this.

Absolutely beautiful!!

They are wonderful. How on earth do you get them to grow in this climate?

Hope your aches and pains aren’t too bad.

It’s been quite sunny here, so you might get it tomorrow

It’s great. We had the plant when we lived in Cornwall and just brought it with us when we moved. It’s in a sheltered spot through the winter.

Pains have eased now that I’m home in the warm. The cold got to me today.

It supposed to rain all week up here unfortunately. Shame because it’s hubby’s birthday and official retirement. We are going to my stepdaughters as a surprise to him and have an out doors socially distance lunch. Oh well, can’t change the weather🤔😕.

Hope you have had a good weekend. Winter sunshine lifts those spirits.

Talk soon.

I hope you have a good celebration for your hubby. It’s that cold wind up here that goes right through. Lucky for me, I am always hot since the tablets put me in menopause. Have you got thermals? My nephew lives in Norway and they swear by merino wool base layers.

I’ve got a couple of days off this week because of half term - watch the wind and rain come!!

Take care Cheryl

The Letrozole give me hot flushes Clare but my feet are always cold.

The weather turned beautiful this afternoon but there was a cold wind. We stayed inside but social distanced. We had a great time. I will post a picture of Paul’s cake that Sally made for him.

Yes I have thermals. I’ve been to Norway and Iceland. We have Merino Wool socks as well.

We are going to have the same weather here. What a shame especially when you have a break.

Take care Clare xxx

Glad you had a good time.

Lucky you going to Norway and Iceland. Sweden next?

I don’t mind if the weather is rubbish, it will be nice having some time off work.

Cheryl, this plant is gorgeous! You bucked the trend moving from Cornwall to Liverpool 😁 Vicki

I sure did.

We have family here and to be honest we are much happier. The coast is just a ten minute drive and the Lake District an hour away. Happy days.

Take care

I get that. Cornwall is beautiful but isolated. You seem to have the best of both worlds now with family nearby and a good, more central location.

Hi Cheryl,

What a beautiful flower! I hope it does well through the winter. I hope the weather is nicer for you today. It’s dry here at the moment, which I hope will continue. I’ve got my CT scan at 10:45am, which is why I’m up so early to finish eating and then I have to fast for 4 hours.

Everything crossed for you Sophie. Take great care.

The plant will be fine. I fleece it through the winter and it’s in a sheltered place.

Talk soon

Hi Cheryl,

I’m back from the hospital. The first technician collapsed my vein, so I was glad when she said the radiologist would insert the cannula once I was in the scanning room. I get my results next Monday when I see my oncologist.

in reply to

Was thinking of you Sophie. Did the vein collapse due to it having so many needles pushed into it? I’ve had the same problem in the past.

Hope you are feeling ok. Rest up lovely.

🙋🏼‍♀️🥰

in reply to

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for thinking about me! That vein does get used a lot, so it could be. But I do try to alternate arms. I can almost always tell when it’s going to happen when I get an inexperienced nurse or technician. I get my results on Monday.

Sophie

in reply to

I sometimes come away black and blue Sophie. Sometimes there is trouble finding a vein and they prod both arms. I try to drink a lot of water before I go but it doesn’t always work.

Now it’s going to be a long week waiting for you.

Sending hugs

in reply to

Thank you, Cheryl. The nurse (or maybe she was a technician) didn't seem very confident when she was trying to find a vein. My veins are quite small and not easily noticeable, but whenever I have blood drawn by my local phlebotomist she never has any trouble. She said that she feels for the veins, rather than looking for them. I think in future I might just ask the radiologist to insert the cannula, which is what ended up happening anyway.

Omg! Such a beautiful plant! I got to have a veg garden this summer and so enjoyed the growing and tending. It brought be great joy! Thx for sharing!

There is something so satisfying about home grown. Some say you can buy it cheaper in the Supermarkets but the flavour is different.

Glad you managed to grow your own.

Beautiful. They do make me smile too! Thank you.

That is beautiful ! All winter long blooming would be fabulous. In Ontario Canada we don’t have anything that Blooms in the winter outside .

I can understand that 😕
