Traveling during winter months

Hello ladies, I had a question while taking I Brance And Letrozel, I have been on it for about 10 months now. My family and I travel a lot but for some reason I’m a little bit more skeptical during the winter months. We plan to be in Cabo for New Year’s eve. My husband has a job there that he’s got to attend to. I’ve never been worried about being on an airplane or traveling but if my numbers are up should I be considered wearing a mask on the airplane.? I am one that does not want to draw any attention to me so I’m a little bit nervous.

A mask wouldn't hurt, but you would be conspicuous. I have flown many times while on Ibrance. So far, so good. If you don't go for the mask, try wiping down all the surfaces you'll be touching with a disinfectant wipe. Same thing if you use the WC. Keep your hands clean. They do sell a mini air purifier that hangs around your neck. Not sure how effective it is.

For your peace of mind , I would wear a mask on a plane journey during flu season , though normally I am not one to draw attention to myself either !! You do see a lot of eg Japanese wearing masks in travel , so there is nothing to be embarrassed about . You could cover it with a scarf when in public ! Have you had a flu jab this year ? I have had one in last 2 years ( on my week off of ibrance) and would recommend it just for extra protection. Also use the hand sanitisers when travelling . Have a lovely time x

Thanks! I agree. I plan to carry one anyway. I think the scarf idea is a great idea. Yes I’ve had my flu shot I always make sure my family gets them. And then I carry a lot of hands Sanitizers. . Thank you girls for the information. I think that will help tremendously.

Wearing a mask is a good idea. Also, letting the stewardess who checks you in know that you are Stage IV to see if you board first and sit in front. Its better to draw attention than to get ill.

I travelled to the Dominican Republic during the height of flu season last year and wore a mask on the plane and in crowded areas in the airport. I may have gotten some strange looks but I decided I wouldn't let it bother me. My counts are extremely low due to Ibrance but my husband and I just want to keep enjoying the life we have. I stayed healthy the whole vacation . Laying on the beach was the best rest I could have hoped for ! Hope you can enjoy some travel too !!

I'd wear the mask. So what if you get stares. You'll likely never see those folks again. And get wheel chair support at the airports so you can save your energy for the great stuff you'll want to do when you get to your destination. I've found most of the wheel chair pushers to be pleasant to chat with and sometimes I learn alot from them about the geographic area we're in. Plus it gets you thru security check points more quickly. It's too bad, but illness doesn't keep those who are contagious from traveling so the mask would probably be a good idea for everybody on the plane to be wearing!
