Hi!! I have a question that I’m hoping someone, here, can answer.
I have extensive skull mets. From time to time, I get bumps on my head (about the size of a walnut) that are painful and then they disappear after a week or so. It’s almost like I bumped my head.
Does anyone know what this is???
My oncologist wants to examine me when the bumps are flaring, but I’m afraid I may not have one when I see her.
I’m hoping someone else has this issue and can shed some light. Are these tumors? Just the cancer getting mad because I’m taking meds to stop it?? (🤣)
I recently had a brain scan and I do not have brain mets.
I thank everyone, in advance, for your thoughts/answers.

I have skin mets in various parts of my anatomy, including my skull. On my skull, skin mets tend to be much less moveable than they are elewhere (my armpits, for example). I find they are itchy some times, but rarely "sore". I think they do come and go, and the size may vary.
My skin mets are seldom mentioned on my CT scans. That may be because I have many tumours in my skeleton, lungs, spleen, lymph nodes, etc. I don't think my scalp has ever been part of my scans. The skin mets in the rest of my body do not seem to grow much, if at all. I assume that they too are tumours, but they simply feel like small lumps. In any case, neither I, nor my oncologist, pay them much heed.
I have bone Mets but not extensively in my skull. I do not have lumps as far as I can tell. I was checking my head constantly because I had so much scalp sensitivity. which would come and go but I recently realized it was due to hair loss and since my hair is constantly shedding now, my skull is no longer sensitive. I hope someone here can help you figure out what the lumps may be.
Thank You!! I, too, have thinning hair. My scalp is always itchy, too!!
The lumps are only on a few areas and they swell and disappear at different times of the month. They were actually the first odd sign I got last year before I knew I had MBC. I thought I bumped my head and I couldn’t figure out when!!
6 months later, I knew that’s what it was and I wasn’t going crazy because I didn’t remember bumping my head!! 🤣
My scalp is itchy, too. I feel like I have lice sometimes because it itches so bad but the itching will suddenly stop so I guess it’s all part of the hair loss. Good luck with whatever they discover is causing the lumps.
My doctor said it was the Mets confusing the marrow production of the bone. It’s overactive bone marrow production. Very weird! And it’s ongoing. I have one on my forehead at the moment, but it’s getting better! It’s not noticeable to anyone but me.
Crazy journey we’re on!! Good luck on your journey. 🩷
