Hi fellow warriors,

I have been busy with stuff lately. My health seems to be stable, thank you God. For now I am staying on Xeloda. Dosage was reduced a month ago, I had gotten sick from it but now feel better.

So it's been 6 months today since my dad passed away. I knew I would miss him, he was a bit part of my life---it was a routine to visit dad, take him out to lunch or something, then the last few months that he lived he got sick (stroke), lost his zest for life. Anyway, I guess I will always miss my dad. I am in process of putting his house up for sale; he passed on to me, to sell the house after he passes; its a reverse moratage, need to pay the bank back. I have a good real estate agent, he has guided me along the process. I rent, don't own so I know nothing about this. It may be up for sale sometime next week or so; I am cleaning it. It isn't a good time to sell a house really, but i have no choice; dad owes the bank quite abit of money. I am glad that he could live in his house, until he got sick.

I am working alittle more, which is good. There are bills associated with selling a house.

I turned 66, July 10. Now I can work as much as I want or are able to, without paying taxes (unless I make over $50.0000 which I won't make that much.

This is what I am up to my dear friends. My two daughters turned 25 and 24 recently, time flies.

Hugs to all,

Sue

Hi Sue,

You have been through a great deal in recent months. It is still very early days since your father's death, so I can understand what you are going through as you prepare to settle his affairs. So he remortgaged his house? I hope you are able to sell it quickly and pay the bank back. I imagine that must be stressful for you, but I would speak to the estate agent and get some help from the professionals with preparing the house, staging it for sale and so on. Maybe having virtual tours of the house will take away some of the stress of having to stage it in person. Can you ask about that? With the pandemic going on, this might be a good option as a lot of people are reluctant to enter people's homes at this time.

I would try to take it easy though and if anyone offers to help you clean the house I would take them up on the offer. Or have you thought about hiring a professional cleaning company? It's a lot of work trying to stage a house to sell.

Take care,

Sophie

Yes Sophie, it's tons of work to get a house ready to sell. I had a junk removal guy remove everything in and out of the house, housecleaner came cleaned, I am renting a storage unit storing some of dad's things (donated 75% of his things). Unfortunately it is a old house, in need of repairs. I have no money for the repairs, selling it as is. Real estate agent knows the house, he said I'll be able to at least sell the house to pay off the bank, have a little bit extra. House will be on the market most likely sometime next week.

Thank you for your input and encouragement. :-)

Hi Sue,

You're welcome. It sounds like you have everything under control. I hope that you will have some money left over once the house sells.

My husband and I bought a house when we lived in California, but when we moved back to the UK in 2012 we couldn't sell it, as the mortgage was under water. So we kept it and have rented it out ever since. But since we paid off our mortgage we have been seriously considering selling it as we won't be moving back there. We'll probably wait until things calm down with this pandemic and then make a decision within the next year or so.

Hi. It’s good to know you are stable and are able to work. I’m sorry you lost your dad and I’m sure you will miss him a lot. Yes it’s not the best of times to sell a house but there are people who are looking to move and buy so you might get lucky. Do take care!

Yes thank you!

Hi, I lost my Dad Christmas 2018. I am like you. I miss him so much. I would love to hear his voice. Dad was a stroke victim. My Mum cared for him till he passed away aged 92. He had his stroke aged 66. Mum is nearly 93 and still going strong thank goodness but Dad was her identity, Carer, housekeeper, wife etc. I live 300 miles from Mum and really miss her although we FaceTime.

When a person with debts passes away here the debts die with them. My Dad was financially stable thank goodness. It’s a lot of responsibility for you to sort your Dads estate out. Thank goodness you are stable with your illness but please remember to rest every day. I hope you can get things sorted soon.

Belated birthday wishes. My son in Australia has his birthday 13th and my Stepdaughter here in the UK is 16th. I hope you managed to have a little celebration.

Take care and best wishes.

Thank you so much! I have a really good real estate agent, he is helping me a lot. I did need to pay for some things, but a good part of my expenses will come out of when the house is sold; I'll probably have enough leftover to pay off my bills, thank God. I am reminding myself to rest, it's important.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Lots to deal with and not much time to relax and grieve. Hope you can get some help. Take care of yourself.

Cheers, June S.

Hi Sue

I am glad you are feeling better. We are the same age then. I turned 66 this year as well. And I have two daughters as well, 28 and 26. Since my cancer diagnosis, my older daughter has become terribly afraid she will get it too. She takes every precaution, got tested but it is always something that bothers her. She is turning into a hypochondriac. :)

I and my kids are not genetically related (adopted at birth), so they don't worry about having the same diagnosis; but they do worry about when they are going to lose me. I try to encourage them to enjoy the times we have together, of course they need to live their lives best way they can in the moment. Thank you for your encouraging words :-)

Thank you much Sandra! Your a wonderful encourager. :-)

Hi Sue -

Thanks so much for the update...I'm so sorry about your Dad's passing, I'm sure the 6 month anniversary and going through the house stuff can be painful.

It's good he was able to do the reverse mortgage and stay in the house. It sound like you have that process well under control and, I don't know where the house is, but I was just reading that some suburban housing markets are going strong as people want to leave the density of the city and want more space for a work-at-home future...

And so nice to have two daughters, mid-20's! I imagine they bring you lots of happiness! :)

Take care! Wishing you the best with it all...

Lynn
