Hi

I have recently had a lumpectomy. I am awaiting to see an oncologist to discuss the pros and cons of radiotherapy and hormone treatment.

Lovely to meet you all here

Hi Lorraine,

Welcome to this site!

I hope you are recovering well from your lumpectomy. Can you tell us a little more about your diagnosis? I get the feeling you are early stage judging by your surgery and treatment options, as radiotherapy is not often used for curative purposes with metastatic breast cancer. Hormone therapy can be very effective in treating breast cancer, and is less toxic than chemotherapy. But it still comes with various side effects. Your oncologist will go through all of that with you when you meet. We are all dealing with metastatic disease on this site, which is a lot different to early stage breast cancer, but there are also some similarities.

I wish you all the best as you move ahead with your treatment.
