Hello everyone

My mom is having her masectomy Tuesday. We have been having some amazing days so far forgetting about all of this cancer stuff. Honestly fees like nothing is going on. But now surgery will happen soon and she is a little nervous and such. She says she is scared of it being risky. I think she is still has some trauma from her very risky lung surgery last year, although last year she had surgery while in a induced coma. She said she just wonders if it is to dangerous or what toll it will take on her body since she has gone through so much plus dyalisis. I told her this one should be okay since it is not an actual internal necessary organ. But there is always the being put under fear and everything in general. She has had many other surgeries before, but she almost lost her life last year so this makes her nervous. I am also a bit anxious but hoping for the best outcome and praying she will be fine and kick cancer's ass.

When your having good days it's good to forget about the cancer, I had mastectomy and was completely fine although didnt have lung problems then, if it was too risky they wouldn't do it and like you said she got through risky lung operation and this time there not operating on lungs and not a great deal of recovery time Being nervous is natural, have a treat today good luck for tommorrow my fellow cancer warrior you can do this. Sending love to you both. Tracey xx

Thinking of you and your mum ... I too had a mastectomy (right) 2 years ago , and an immediate reconstruction with implant .Then I chose to have a reduction on my left side a year later ...and glad that I did it ! Much love xx

Thank You! And thanks for sharing too❤️

Hi Janet466....I completely "get" and agree with what you say about a breast being very different from, e.g. a lung! When I was faced with the decisions re: mastectomy, I said "so you'll remove like mostly fat, etc. from "this" side of my ribs? Go have at it!".

And I also "get" the fear of anesthesia. I can't count the number of times I've been "put under" in the past several years, vs. like zero prior to that. One does get used to it. It's a real, but very small, risk. But it's still stressful and disconcerting, for sure.

I am so sincerely hoping for a great outcome for your mom. I'll be sending good vibes tomorrow, Tuesday.

Take care,

Lynn

thank you! and thank you so much for understanding. Yeah she has been put under a few times already with her kidney removal, her lung removal, and other stuff. There is more procedures to come so we must get used it to! Anyway, I truly appreciate this❤️

Dear Janerhs466,

I send you warm hugs during this trying time. I love my Mom so much and the oldest child of 5. My siblings look to me as a parent figure since my Dad passed in 2011. My Mom has a aortic aneurysm of the heart that is slowly getting larger and will burst. She does not want surgery . Everyday is a treasure. Having MBC myself recently diagnosed I understand the fear of going under. My double mastectomy was quite a journey of recovery last year and even though I was prepared ( for post care ) it was still a challenge. It helped to have warm soft clothing .. a reclining chair ( for me to sleep in with all the tubes , special bags for showering , easy on off clothes ) music to listen to , beautiful plants to see ... and lovely y faces of my children and grandchildren .. pets ( well behaved dogs ) .. made all the difference in healing.

I wish for your precious Mom more good days than challenging ones .. much love to you both a. Respectfully submitted, Patricia

How is your mom doing post surgery? ❤️🙏❤️
