Hello everyone! I am back, and feeling a bit better.
Just went to the oncologist with my mom after her breast cancer diagnosis. Again she is 44 dyalisis patient, had a carcinoid removed last year and was in ICU. Now diagnosed with breast cancer and this was the diagnostic after biopsy. The oncologist said the last pet scan for her carcinoid follow up seemed clear, and did not see any lesion near her breast, so she thinks it is early stage. She also said the tumor size indicates that, but of course she has to make sure. She said only
the lumps may be removed, but masectomy is mostly the option to go for. Also said my moms estrogen something is to respond to the pill since it was positive. So it is likely it can be treated that way. If not, chemo will be talked about professionally with specialists since she in dyalisis.
Can anyone help me know what this means too?

Hi, Janeths466. Glad you’re feeling a bit better. If your mom ends up ER/PR positive and Her2 negative, they might treat her with medication. A lot of us take Ibrance and Letrozole. I have not had chemo. This is my first line of treatment. So far I’m doing well on this combination. There are a few different types of treatment for this. Her doctor will discuss all the different options as soon as they find out the Her2 results, I’m sure.
Thanks for replying! The oncologist said it is very likely she will get pills, atleast that is what she is seeing. I am glad you are doing well!!!! ❤️
Hi Janeths466...
I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better!
Okay, that seems like a sound/balanced discussion with the onc. I'm not familiar with any considerations that might be necessary with the dialysis, but I'll sort of echo what KMBL said earlier, i.e. it sounds like her BC is hormone receptive which means that several really good treatment options are available.
I'm also actually not clear (sorry) re: if her BC is definitely metastatic...it it possibly that it's an earlier stage than stage 4? If so, even better....
At this point, I'd get clarification from the doc, assuming you trust/feel good about him/her ...
Yeah the oncologist said it is very likely at an early stage since her last pet scan was clear. Surgery will be done first and then we will see what treatment but the oncologist is thinking the pills could be an option, and chemo is her last option if needed. Thanks for replying!
That's great news re: clear PET scans!! So it sounds like her cancer is not metastatic and, yes, she might (or might not) need to go through some unpleasant treatments, but then you can celebrate/exhale! I'm so happy for you both....
