Well my October Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness/fundraising campaign finished yesterday. I raised a total of £965 (and someone's now said they're giving me £35 to round it up to £1,000) plus loads of donated £20 and £30 gift vouchers plus 35 bags full of pamper goodies. I didnt quite manage the 50 miles of walking but did manage 42 - the fund raising wasnt dependant on the walk and the original aim was to get me out doing more exercise so with 42 miles under my belt, I'd say I've achieved that; so not gonna beat myself up for the 8 measly miles and just going to be proud of everything else I achieved!
Original post - Doing my bit and raising awareness of MBC as I don't think people fully understand it. Pledged to walk 50 miles during October and fund raising to buy health and beauty treatments to donate to local chemo unit - just to make someone's day a little brighter 😆. Gift drop no.1 is on 17th when I next go myself which will tie in nicely with 18th Oct which is world BC awareness day. Gift drop no.2 will be at the end of Oct when the campaign ends.
The idea came to me a couple of weeks ago and I set a target of £500 thinking well, if I dont reach it that's fine. Unbelievable support means I've already smashed that target as well as loads of donated £30 gift vouchers from a number of salons. Im really blown away by people's generosity.
Kicked it off officially on Sunday with a 3 mile walk - in torrential conditions too - but that didnt deter me and I had some friends and family to keep me company - bless them all for still showing up. Despite the inclement weather, spirits were high and it was kind of fun splashing through puddles in our wellies.
So 3 miles done, wish me luck for the remaining 47. To echo Sandra's inspirational quote - we ca do this 💪👊.
