FYI Cure Magazine Cover Features TNBC

One of the very few "benefits" of having bc is that we can get a free subscription to Cure Magazine. The Feb 2019 issue just arrived at my house today, and it has a number of good resources listed, including financial help. And has an article about the role of immunotherapy in treating TNBC! TNBC is triple negative breast cancer, breast cancer that tests negative for estrogen, progesterone and human growth factor #2 receptors on the outside of the cancer cells. Her2neu is the abbreviation for human growth factor #2.

I’ll have to take a look when it arrives. I subscribe. I started out 90% ER and 70% PR but it’s changed to 50% ER and 1% PR. Onco says it’s acting more like TNBC.

I’m glad to read about 3 years on xeloda. I know that’s in the cards for my future. I was actually supposed to go on it after I exhausted the hormone therapy. But all hormone therapies failed out the gate and trial failed. Since it spread to liver, dr wants to be more aggressive.

It’s been a great drug for me-nervous for the next chapter

Sounds like my experience -- in bones then to liver. I've been on taxol and now Keytruda (immunotherapy) for several months, Keytruda, just 3 infusions so far. Latest scans showed significant reduction in tumors, so I hope that's encouraging news for you! :-)

Thank you for the info on Cure. Do you happen to know where I might find an issue. This issue is of particular interest since the recurrence was diagnosed as TNBC and I'm on an immunotherapy drug, but not the one just approved by the FDA. My Oncologist did some maneuvering to get it for me.

Take care,

Lynn

Cancer patients can subscribe for free! I found Cure on line by google searching ...I think you can find it at curetoday.com/subscriptions. As far as finding a copy, I have only seen it at doctor's office waiting rooms and other medical places.

I just got the news yesterday that my Onc (head of breast cancer research at Moffitt) has decided that since my skin mets are triple negative, that means my ibrance/faslodex is not effective and we will have to treat my cancer as TNBC. I had always been strongly ER +. He is recommending a clinical trial for BRCA2 patients combining immunotherapy approved for use in all TNC last Friday called Tecentriq with a PARP inhibitor called Lynparza. Neither one add much in the way of progression free survival other than a couple of months, but they are hoping the combo will be more effective. The trial is across the US. The new standard of care for TNBC is chemo plus immunotherapy, Tecentriq. Thanks for the info about Cure Magazine. I will have to find a copy.

Mine switched from ER/PR + to TN and I"ve been on Taxol and Keytruda -- scan results were encouraging. Might be a good plan.

Best to you!

Yes, there is another study I can join with Keytruda and a different drug. Glad to hear you are having good results! Very encouraging.
