You know I take B12 and it helps with tiredness. I don’t understand why the doctors prescribe iron or some type of energy builders and vitamins. It seems that they only focus on cancer and not the whole body effects of the cancer and meds we are taking. I take Ibrance and estrogen blocker also.

Most drs aren’t into prescribing supplements. Mine did suggest iron when I had low iron and calcium supplements for xgeva. You’d probably have to see a homeopathic dr for supplemental advice.

I’ve done the Immunity IV which includes high dose C and B12. Yes, I did get good energy in following days.

I take 500mg of B12 everyday and do feel better so I’m wondering if I should take a little more. Like how much is to much, I wonder.

Hi,

The only supplements my oncologist recommended was Adcal D3 (calcium carbonate and vitamin D) to help offset the effects of Zometa and to keep my bones strong. So I am able to get that free on prescription. I also take vegan omega 3 capsules in place of cod liver oil and Montmorency cherry capsules, both of which I buy online. I want to add more supplements though.

What is the oil and cherry capsules for?

in reply toThe-artist

The oil is a vegan alternative to cod liver oil, as I don't eat fish and wasn't getting much omega 3 in my diet, and the cherry capsules are an anti-inflammatory and contain melatonin. x

I agree

When I first started Ibrance 125 and letrazole..there was no mention of taking B12.. or folic acid or iron

Consequently I was very anaemic with low white cell counts

I was then put on 100 mg Ibrance and told to take the above...so I suffered for about 6 weeks with anaemia symptoms unnecessarily

Annoying

I therefore take supplements myself,.Vit C..cod liver oil..CBD oil..glucosamine..iron tablets make me feel sick so I buy the liquid form called Spatone

I make golden paste as well

I wanted to take CBD oil and he said it might interfere with my cancer meds

What is cod liver oil and folic acid and glucosamine for

Barbteeth profile image
Barbteeth in reply toThe-artist

For joint pain..cod liver oil and glucosamine..folic acid for red blood cells..helps anaemia

Odd that your doctor prohibits CBD oil as lots of ladies take it..And their oncologists have said it’s ok?!...I’ve just bought some ..I’m on Ibrance and letrazole

So how much of oil do you take? I’m just not sure of my dr he even told me to not take B12 then last appt I asked if I could take it again because I feel better on it and he said he didn’t tell me to stop it!

I don’t think they know a lot of this kind of thing..everyone specialises now and they stay within that sphere

I asked mine if I could take Q10 and berberine and she’d not even heard of those

I take 6 drops of oil..says on the bottle

I get B12 shots monthly from my palliative care dr. It does help with energy and my onc is on board with it! My onc also said take vit. D. That's about it. I also take wheatgrass powder in my smoothie also given by palliative care dr. Supposed to help with my low platelets. Doesn't always work. Onc says it's a side effect of the Ibrance.

Hi Marianne,

I asked my oncologist about getting the vitamin B12 injection to help me with peripheral neuropathy, but she said it's only for those who can't absorb the vitamin. I had a blood test recently to check my vitamin B12, vitamin D and thyroid function and she didn't tell me what the levels were, just that they were all normal. When I see my GP on the 19th I will ask for a printout of the results and see if she would recommend the vitamin B12 injection. The last time I saw her she would be happy for me to get the injections if necessary.

I did have tests that showed low vit.D and B12.

Have you been suffering from peripheral neuropathy?
