regarding Truqap side effects

week 3 of first month. Although I am very careful, I have not been trapped at home with the diarrhea. However, today I thought things were pretty consistent and 2pm in the afternoon , out of nowhere I couldn’t make it to the bathroom. This is day 4 of the cycle. Is there no consistency we can count on with Truqap? It would be nice to be able to count on Chen this side effect occurs. My other bouts were about 45 to 50 minutes after taking morning pill and they fine the rest of the day.

If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

This is the problem. I am going in May to Scotland for 2 and a half weeks. Do you all take Imodium everyday? Doesn’t that make you constipated? How and when do you you take it? I have taken it twice and wound up constipated which has its own problems.

Yes I am going to do this more often now. But did have one in my breakfast on day that din’t go well.

Hi. I don't take Truqap, but I saw your post and really feel for your situation. I also have problems with constipation when I've taken Immodium for diarrhea caused by radiation. You can try a half dose of Immodium. Others have posted that they take the Immodium before they take their medication. Following up on Chef50's comment, soluble fiber helps some people manage diarrhea. Bananas have soluble fiber, or you could try Benecol. There's also a product called Banatrol Plus, which is a powder that you can mix into liquid or yogurt. I didn't like the taste of it, however. It has a banana flavor. I hope some other folks give you their tips so you can manage your diarrhea before your trip. I've also seen people post that they always carry a clean up kit with them with wipes, change of clothes, etc. I wish you the best.

Thanks for the support. Good suggestions. My doctor hinted at taking a med vacation as well, but it concerns me.

I just realized I meant Benefiber NOT benevolent. Jeesh. I know some other ladies on here have taken a break from meds to go on a trip, but it's valid to not want to do that.

I took two vacations from meds for trips. Once to Australia in January and once in March for Italy!!! Had stable scan upon my return thank goodness:)

I take Truqap and find that Day 4 is the worst for symptoms.

well, with Piqray there are similar bouts…I have learned to always have immodium with me. The ONC had warned me after I had a miserable night of unrelenting diarrhea…if you’re ina bad bout, take two pills, otherwise one will do. I had learned to take an immodium before I went out somewhere where it would be awful to have an accident. So I’m not trapped in my own home…see how using the immodium can help you…but of course, talk to your ONC… the meds do develop a rhythms and eventually you will be able to predict…or at least anticipate. Right now I can usually count on at least 5 days or as much as 12 days between . Best wishes on finding your path!

My experience is no consistency when diarrhea hits- on which day or time. Intestinal cramps happens if I don't eat enough before taking the morning dose. A cup of yogurt works best for me.I hope your body will regulate the diarrhea better soon.

I'm on Truqap too. Don't think there is any predicting! Every week is different.

so what do you do to function outside of the home?

mariootsi profile image

I don't go out if it's bad and I wear depends diapers. It's so difficult to predict. Taking immodium gets me too constapated.

Trying to figure that out with my doctor now.
