I was originally diagnosed with Stage 3B Breast Cancer at 40 and with MBC to the Liver at age 45. I have have had so many surgeries including Double Mastectomy, Ovary removal, Targeted Radiation to the Liver. Yet I am still feeling pretty strong and just living life with sucky cancer.

Hello -- I am Tracey and I am a 47 year old want to be world traveler!
Hello Tracy. I just turned 47 as well. I say if you want to be a world traveler with rage resources to do it go for it. You have the will and knowledge of what you can do. Don't hesitate to find away.
I really would like to Medically retire and just travel, but you know that whole thing about paying bills and Medical insurance can get costly!!!
If you're feeling pretty strong, you can still do some traveling and follow your dream. And you're right, cancer does suck! I'm wondering about the radiation to the liver. Has that seemed to work well for you?
Happy trails to u!
Metastatic since July ‘16 as first diagnosis...planning trip to China in spring...have fun...enjoy!
Hi Tracey,
Im 57 with stage IV and mets to liver as well. I wonder if you can use your "off week" ( if you have any) to take shorter trips and accomplish both, travel and treatment. Travel is an expensive adventure whether you are healthy or sick, so doing both can be challenging on a few levels, but I think it's doable. I have done it in the past. The issue is travel insurance and coverage for pre existing conditions.
I, like Joan37, also am wondering how the radiation you had to the liver worked out for you. I am facing a new met in liver and wondering if it may be an option that I should bring up at my next appointment.
Good on you Tracy.
I am over 70 and was diagnosed in 2013 - right mastectomy and tamoxifen then progression to stage 4 with small liver met after 3 months meant a change to Femara. Last year progression again when shrunken liver met reappeared so almost a year on Xeloda 2 weeks on 1 off. Liver met shrinking while markers climbed then suddenly liver met grew again so now on navelbine - 2 weeks on 1 off. We love to camp in the Kruger National Park (lucky we live near by) and have not let the side effects of any of the treatments interfere! So far so good - a bit of fatigue on Xeloda and too early to tell on the new drug. But if you feel strong, go for it. Try to fit it in round your off week if you have one and negotiate with your oncologist to sort out your routine to suit as much as possible for the period you want to go.
How did the radiation to the liver go. Have not yet approached my oncologist with this idea - it may well be unavailable here in South Africa anyway - or the Medical SCHEME wont pay!
Happy travels
