Update from Doctors phone appointment.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all so very much for your messages and support, it’s nice to know that there are people who understand.

Dr phoned this morning and you all probably won’t be surprised to hear that it didn’t go well. I explained that I want to come off Ropinirole and that I have reduced my dose a little but that I am now experiencing terrible pain in my arms and legs and could I be given a slightly higher dose of pain medication to help me. He then asked me why was I already taking Co Codamol and I told him that I have M.E/CFS and Fibromyalgia so I take it for the pain. He replied saying that he wouldn’t put me on any higher dose as they don’t prescribe opioids for Fibromyalgia anymore, totally ignoring that I had just said that the cause of my extra pain was because of the Ropinirole reduction.

He then proceeded to talk about that my CFS and Fibromyalgia was basically psychosomatic and that I should book a face to face appointment with him to discuss coming off my pain killers and to find alternative ways to manage my condition.

He agreed that I could stop the Atorvastatin for a couple of weeks to see it that helps my RLS.

It seems to me that none of these Doctors I have spoken to over the last couple of weeks are actually listening to what I am saying and just go off on a tangent and try to interfere with my other drugs which aren’t a problem.

Right now I feel absolutely deflated and angry about the whole situation.

He actually said ME was psychosomatic?????I am speechless.

This doctor should be struck off. Is he aware of NICE guidelines on ME.

I can only repeat what I've said before.

Sue him and file a written complaint with GMC and RCGPs.

I am definitely going to write a complaint about how I have been treated.

I suggest you also contact the ME association. And find out if they have a legal helpline. This doctor really sounds so dangerous & negligent & they might have details of doctors who are well researched in ME.

You need to see one of the neurologists that were recommended to you. This doctor is worse than no doctor at all.
