I’m learning so much from reading everyone’s posts. Unfortunately I am still trying to figure out what is going on with my legs. I know I have a component of RLS as my legs feel like a “current” is running through them when I am sitting for long periods, watching Tv in evenings and laying in bed. I don’t have to get up and move necessarily but I need to stretch etc to be comfortable ….definitely feel better when I get up and move. As I have mentioned before my ferritin was 51 so I am starting iron supplements as recommended by Sue. I already asked if anyone else experienced “heavy legs” and only had one person mention they did, but does anyone feel any general achiness particularly when standing still , after being on their feet for long periods or is this likely not related to RLS? In my first post I discuss my back. I’m asking again because my Dr wants me to do a epidural steroid injection, which I know can be an exacerbated for RLS but I also want to treat that heavy/achy feeling I have. Before doing that just wanted to get some opinions whether it could all be RLS or unlikely? As you might guess, none of my doctors … Neuro, PCP or chiro can figure it out so I am left constantly searching on line!!

Hi Corolla I also suffer from RLS and stiff hamstrings with the result that I can't stand fir long periods cause I can't stretch my legs properly. I also find it painful to walk because of my hammies but I don't see any connection between RLS and my hammies. Why I am sure is because my RLS symptoms has subsided considerably but I'm still suffering from stiff hammies. Stretching doesn't help at all but I do feel some relieve when I've walked for about 20 minutes. Good luck and I hope someone can give me advice fir my hammies.
I get achy quad muscles every night. The opiod that helps relieve the crawlies doesn't seem to help the achiness. Ibuprofen does help some though. The longer I go without decent sleep the achier my legs get. With multiple sleep disorders and related issues, each night often becomes a game of whac-a-mole.
Hi, I do get a heavy feeling in my legs if I do too much walking in a day and I know I’ve overdone it and will suffer that night.
Have to continuously walk around when this happens. I get an aching that is painful, sort of electric but I also have back issues and sometimes this contributes to it I feel. I’ve also recently noticed a small swelling on either leg on side which dr said is muscles tensing with rls. Once controlled with oxycodone the symptoms all go away but can take hrs.
I would definitely do the epidural if you feel ready as it may help, good luck
Hi Corolla1, I suffer from RLS and experience achy legs. My aching thighs [deep pain] are the primary symptoms of my RLS. Many painkillers, incl. prescribed ones, only took the edge off. After seeing a Neurologist, I was prescribed Gabapentin, which significantly reduced the nerve pain. It’s very important to see a Neurologist, as GPs often prescribe medications that are not suitable for RLS treatment. I also made adjustments to my exercise routine, increasing flexibility and strength training, while reducing long endurance workouts. 🙂
