Just wondering if anyone experiences these symptoms along with rls, I've managed to get rid of rls in my shoulders & arms after iron therapy yet I still have rls in my right leg which keeps me up alot at night but I've noticed in the last while that my right leg feels achy and heavy during the day, hard to explain but it feels like a muscle strain or a tiredness in the leg with the rls, my rls is like a creepy crawly feeling, at night but this achy feeling it there all the time, has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Achy legs
I can't say I have.
Do you have PLMS as well as RLS 80% or more of us do?
Hi, My RLS is almost always limited to late evening and after midnight. I sometimes get muscle soreness or aches during the day from exercise or occasionally neural issues (aggravated nerves) and these often seem to act as a focus for the RLS at night, but I don’t believe they are caused by it.
This describes my symptoms too, my right leg aches after excercise and my rls always starts 2 hrs after I fall asleep at night, what meds helps you?
Interesting. I have had no further info so have assumed I have PLMS as my activity (which is only nominal) starts in sleep. Rem Sleep Disorder is another possible diagnosis. But loopylegs comments RLSD. (Note-I don't have the itchy feeling in my legs).
I am beginning to feel why am i on this drug. Us men don't like going to Dr's. I'm going off the idea.
Tapentadol works brilliant but it interferes with my breathing as im asthmatic, I'm finding it hard to get my Doc to give me anything stronger than codeine, I'm waiting on an appointment with a sleep specialist who treats rls too, so hopefully I'll find a med that suits, the alpha2 ligands interfere with my breathing & I augmented on the DAs. Thanks for the advice.
Hi, I am only taking magnesium tablets which I started recently and I think they help by reducing the impulse to move a little, so it's easier too get back to sleep and I'm less likely to wake up. However it's not a big difference in my case. I'm managing the RLS by moderating exercise and good sleep hygiene so I am really ready to sleep , using all the normal techniques such as regular bedtime and rising (even after a bad night), avoiding caffeine and eating late etc. I used pregabalin for a year for neuropathic pain which did help a bit with the RLS but when I came off it it seemed worse so I'm not keen to use it until I have no option. For now I'm prepared to live with getting up between 3 and 6 times a night and moving until the restless sensations go away, usually a couple of flights of stairs and 20 minutes or so unloading the dishwasher does the trick.
I have pain in both my legs, both at night and during the day. If I press on the muscles as in massaging, they hurt. It affects my muscles in both legs both front and back and from the ankles up to my hip. I am taking 500 mg of gabapentin at night which allows me to sleep without the pain bothering me. I am taking 200 mg of gabapentin twice a day which makes my pain manageable, but certainly doesn't eliminate it.
I have the same creepy crawley sensations that forcing the legs to involuntarily jerk and shake. Always within 15 -30 mins of going to bed... it generally is in left leg but sometimes also the right leg and sometimes lately the shoulders and upper back.. At least with the legs I can get up and exercise and move about but with the back and shoulders it is difficult to relieve the sensation. I had an iron infusion 3 weeks ago and experienced deep bone type aching in both legs and especially my back for 2 days about a week after the infusion. The iron infusion has not helped my restless legs at all... yet... I am still hopeful. Hope and faith seems to be all there is to help since doctors have little concrete knowledge and treatment other than drugs that cause augmentation. I was on requip, but got off them about a month ago. Requip did work for me and sometimes I break down after 3-5 nights of fragments of sleep and take a .25 or .50 requip just to get a good nights sleep. As far as the heavy feeling in the foot or heavy muscle, I did not experience that after the iron infusion.. instead I had an extreme restlessness throughout my whole body... similiar to how I imagine adrenaline rushing through my veins.. or like an ocean tide rushing back out to sea.. hard to describe but it kept me awake all night for several nights in a row on top of the restless legs. Horrible feelings.
Yes. My legs ache deeply where I feel the rls. It makes it so much worse. I spray magnesium on my calves and shins and it helps a little. I hope that you find relief.
Hi Loopylegs (like the name!),
Yes I get achy legs with the RLS, not always but today for example, I started getting the achy feeling early evening and tonight I was woken after 2 hrs sleep with RLS and the aching is still there. It now 5.30 a.m. and would love to go back to bed and SLEEP!
