Dihydrocodeine (sp)

Hi since coming off pramipexole i have been struggling to get any sleep at night. One doctor prescribed codeine it’s not strong enough. Doctor i spoke with this morning is going to prescribe dihydrocodeine sorry if that’s not the right spelling i am pretty brain dead from sleep deprivation. Anyone take or have taken this med did you have side effects as in drowsiness the next day. Doctor also wants me to get my bloods done including ferritin level. I will get an appointment for that when i can get someone to get me to the doctors i can’t get out on my own anymore too unsteady on my feet mostly from meds causing it. Thank you.

I take Dihydrocodeine two or three times a week at 60/90mg per night there is a risk of it inducing insomnia, but the real problem in taking it more frequently is the just about guaranteed Constipation.

Thanks for your reply. It will be a low dose first so will see how i get on. It’s the drowsiness the next day will probably be my problem. Will made sure i have some senna here ready for constipation 😊

I'm so sorry you're still struggling Elisse. I know you're sensitive to most meds. I hope your GP will consider an iron infusion for you. If not, Prof. Walker at Queen Sq or Dr Thomas at Gwent Sleep Clinic may be able to prescribe an infusion for a hospital near you.

Thanks jools it is a bit of a nightmare right now. It’s something i am hoping he will suggest to have an infusion or i will suggest it.
