Pramipexole

How long have the Governments of the world known that Pramipexole was a drug that would eventually become ineffective and lead to horrible withdrawals? How long have they known there are better drugs with fewer side effects, etc.?

I am prescribed pramipexole but I am barely functioning on as little as 2 hours sleep. I am in my late 40s and wondering if this condition just gets worse with age. I am dreading going back to work next Monday as I am barely functioning .

I just want to make sure I am reading the procedure for going off pramipexole and onto pregablin correctly. I started taking pregablin along with my pramipexole and will do this for about 4 weeks. At that point I will start reducing the pramipexole while still taking pregablin.

Going back to the pramipexole, every day I have suffered fog brain, balance problems and headaches since starting on this pill. It would be really helpful to know if anyone else has suffered like this. Thank you.

My neurologist stated that to get off Opioids will require a similar process to getting off of pramipexole . It may feel different than getting off of pramipexole has felt…. Maybe not as difficult. I actually don’t know but for ME at least I don’t want to trade one physical dependency for another.

I talked to the Pdoc whose been handling my pramipexole taper and he said that my withdrawal symptoms to methadone were idiosyncratic and due to my kindled central nervous system. Now there is no way for me to get off pramipexole since the micro taper failed a few months back.

Is it true pramipexole can cause compulsive and impulsive behavior??

My question is.... has anyone come off pramipexole taking 2 days off one week, then 3 days off the next week instead of stopping all at once? I'm currently on .25 at night.

yesterday was my last day on Pramipexole . I am in agony and the Buprenorphine isn’t helping , Just venting. Thanks

My plan was to get off Pramipexole and on to something more viable.

Literally googling as unable to sleep, despite upping my Pramipexole last year, to find out about Augmentation!!! (This answers all my recent questions to the issues I am having!!!) Why has my NHS GP not told me that for these reasons Pramipexole is only now given in end of life care!!!!

Following my post yesterday having stopped pramipexole 2 days ago I was suffering severe rls all day. I didn't realise that after coming off pramipexole the rls severity would still be there and much worse.

There is no mention in this article by Poppy Koronka, of possible gambling side effects from Dopamine Agonists (Ropinirole, Pramipexole, Neupro) prescribed for RLS.

I am just starting my journey into discontinuing the pramipexole. I have been on it for 12 years and I was experiencing terrible augmentation. I started at 1.5 mg ER and I am down to .25 non ER pramipexole. It hasn’t been easy.

Hi everyone, I would like to hear your thoughts on coming off pramipexole, as I was not expecting this level of dependency and withdrawal symptoms. I was prescribed 0.088 mg of pramipexole (a dopamine agonist) by my GP in the UK when I was 35, as my RLS flared up, likely due to menopause.

I have been taking 2 X Pramipexole 0.088 mg at night for many years (I am now late '70s). My RLS is steadily getting worse. How can I tell whether this is the expected development with aging or the onset of augmentation? Should I consider changing my medication?

In October 2024 my wife was put on Pramipexole 3 x 88mcg per night. A week later this was increased to 4 x 88mcg. This seemed to make the symptoms worse so the GP wanted to move to the modified release tablets - augmentation! Another GP countermanded this, saying it was meant for Parkinsons only.

I have been on pramipexole for 5 years and my symptoms are getting worse through augmentation. I take 0.18 but more nights I have to take an another one as well. I also take a gabapentine at night to help me sleep. My iron levels is 108.

Another oddity is that I had an episode of withdrawal like I had up until three days ago from the Pramipexole. What gives? This falling down isn't acceptable. Merry Christmas BTW!

So I will be Walking or standing intermittently for that time Different symptoms since starting on the gabapentin and dropping the pramipexole: 1. Waking in the morning but groggy to point of not really wanting to get up.
