Thanks to everyone who got back to me, Im learning so much from everyone. I didn't realise there were so many different meds to help, I suffer from depression as well, I guess most of us do with the massive lack of sleep deprivation we go through. I live in the UK and my doctors have been very reluctant to help me. In all my years I only had one doctor who had just been on a course about RLS and she said she was shocked at how it affects people's lives. She left the practice so I lost the only person with a little bit of understanding. I now know about augmentation thanks to this site, yes it's worrying to pop so many pills a day, also they make you more drowsy. I just wondered if anyone else finds it such a slow process to recover from any illness due to lack of sleep, especially as sleep is supposed to aid recovery. I'm gathering information from you all, it's a godsend to hear from other people and get positive feedback.
Thanx x

If you are on anti depressants, most will make RLS much worse. Trazodone is one of the few that are ok.
Also, make sure your serum ferritin is above 75, preferably above 100. Most blood tests will say serum ferritin is normal if levels are above 12, but for those of us with RLS it had to be much, much higher.
Really hope you get help from work as well as your doctor.
Wellbutrin is the brand name for Trazodone. So yes, they’re the same.
I had 6 really good days recently with NO RLS at all. I was shocked because I have RLS every single night despite drugs. I didn’t do anything different ( but I did have a small glass of sherry each night???).
Anyway, back to normal last 2 nights with RLS 2 or 3 times in the night.
I am managing 7/8 hours in 1 or 2 hour slots but still get the best sleep from 8- noon in the day.
How are you doing at the moment? Hope all is well.
Yeah, isn’t it crazy?? I had a great night one night after drinking a coke, but then a bad night the night after when I had no caffeinated drinks after 2pm. Makes no sense. Who knows what will set RLS off.
I’m glad to hear that you’re doing well!! Long may it continue!!
As for me, I’m doing better overall! I have my nights, but don’t we all? The sleep I do get is better quality, so thank goodness for that!
As I dye my greying hair blonde, I'm having a double whammy of senior & blonde moments all too frequently Elisse! I'm getting grumpier as well. My poor hubby.
Sleep deprivation will do that to us. I take it out on my dog as i live on my own. So, she gets to hear my grumbles and moans. I sometimes wonder how many brain cells we have left working.

I do the same thing with my landlord’s dog! At least they can’t talk back!! What kind of dog do you have?
Hope you’re doing well, Elisse.

Hi, Jess i have a small mixed breed dog. i adopted her when she was 21 months old, she will be 8 at the end of the year in Sept. She is hyper, but really good company. I am only used to having Labs, my favourite dog of all, but too strong for me these days. so a little one it had to be. I am doing ok, could be worse.

My beloved Buddy was a yellow lab. He was my favorite. We got him as a puppy in 1991. We lived in Sussex at the time. I remember my dad lifting him from the litter crib and handing him to me. I fell in love and we were inseparable until the day he passed away. I clearly remember him knocking me down from sheer excitement the first time I came home from college!!
Speaking of dogs, there is a story behind how we got our current one (who sadly couldn’t make the move with us, so my parents have him). Is it okay to do that here, or can I just pm you? I’ll make it as brief as possible.
Glad you’re doing well!

Jess is that Sussex UK. where you lived...? As that is where i live. Tell the story Jess, on here, some might actually like to read it, take their mind off their troubles for a while. We will soon know if people dont like it, they will complain.

Yes!! My dad worked for ExxonMobil, so we were there for 5 years, Malaysia for 3, and Germany for 4. My youngest brother was born in Malaysia.
Would love to hear you animal stories, my cats keep me sane and happy x

Hi Elisse-Just a little humor; couldn't resist. I used to have blond moments and now I'm grey and I have senior moments. Reminds me of a plaque I saw in a catalog. "We'll be friends til we're old and senile...then we'll be new friends." Has nothing to do with anything-just wanted to share. irina1975
Joolsg, i hate to differ with you again but Wellbutrin is not the name brand for Trazadone. Wellbutrin is the brand name for Bupropion. They are 2 different drugs.
