I can't help you with you query, but have you had your ferritin checked? Improving it to 100 or more helps 60% of people and in some cases completely eliminates their symptoms.

Also I hope you are going slowly in your reduction, reducing no more than .125 mg every 2 weeks and letting your symptoms settle before reducing any more. You may need to reduce more slowly or by a smaller amount.

Meanwhile some things that can make RLS symptoms worse for some people are alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, sugar, carbs, foods high in sodium, foods that cause inflammation, ice cream, estrogen, dehydration, MSG, collagen supplements, electrolyte imbalance, melatonin, stress and vigorous exercise. Some things that help some people include caffeine, moderate exercise, weighted blankets, compression socks, elastic bandages, masturbation, magnesium glycinate, low oxalate diet, selenium, 5 minute shower alternating 20 seconds cold water with 10 seconds hot water finishing with hot water for another couple of minutes, hot baths, distractions, applying a topical magnesium lotion or spray, doing a magnesium salts soak, vitamins B1, B3, B6, B12, D3, K2, if deficient, and potassium and copper if deficient, massage including using a massage gun, using a standing desk, listening to music, meditation and yoga. Many medicines and OTC supplements make RLS worse. If you list them here I can tell you if this is so and may be able to provide a safe substitute.

Having tried 3 different suppliers, Thom Thom works best for me, they also give you some samples with your first purchase: thomthom.se/

It looks like they've disguised their wares, at this point it's probably best to just choose any 'red' and hope for the best but in my experience, they've been the best supplier.

I should point out kratom is illegal in the UK but withdrawal can be hellish and desperate times.....This Dutch company sends red vein borneo kratom as 'Moringa Tea' quickly and discreetly.

Medical cannabis is now legal in UK from private clinics and that also helps withdrawal symptoms.

hi Ced60

I see you are in UK

May I ask how you managed to persuade yr gp to prescribe pregabalin for treatment of rls

The reason I ask is that I suggested this to my gp and was persuaded against due to side effects of pregabalin

I know it’s the first line of treatment in the US but the nhs seems reluctant to adopt it here

I also read a recent post that there appears to be a shortage of Pramipexole so maybe that will be a catalyst for the Uk to change

Thanks

nhs.uk/conditions/restless-... the UK, the NHS guidelines do mention gabapentin and pregabalin as treatment options.

There are side effects with all drugs prescribed for RLS. I've been on Ropinirole ( about 11 years), Oxycontin and pregabalin for 5 years and now Buprenorphine.

The worst side effects were on Ropinirole.

If you are happy on your current RLS drug, great, but if not, pregabalin or gabapentin can be very effective for many RLS patients.

Or low dose opioids.

Print out the section on gabapentin and pregabalin in the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS and show it to your doctor. Are you still taking pramipexole?

Hi Nikon , My Gp phoned the neurology team at Salford Royal Hospital re the issues I had with augmentation of the mirapexin and they advised her to start with the Pregabalin , they said that they would send me an appointment to see them in the next few months to review …. I haven’t had any issues with supply of Mirapexin but I guess I will maybe encounter that when I go to collect my next script

Hello again Ced60 thanks for the response

I’m not too far from Salford Royal in fact my daughter has treatment for gastroparesis via tpn with Salford so I know it quite well 😊

I will try to persuade my gp to refer me there

Thanks again

I haven’t had any noticeable side effects to date and I am now taking 75mg 3 times a day …. She also prescribed some Ferrous Fumarate on their recommendation and advised me to stop blood donations

I’ve used both. I keep it on hand bc I usually run out of my pain meds 1 or 2 days shy of when I can refill. So I go through a tough time. Whatever you do don’t buy the powder!! It’s absolutely disgusting!! But capsules. Bottles never give directions. I looked up online it just says to start out with least amount and gradually take 1/2 more. You can find a lot of very informative sites on the subject. Red Bali or Borneo is more for nighttime for sleep painthe whitebali or Borneo is better for daytime. Good luck!!
