I am on a reduction program for pramipexole, and it’s going really well. I’m taking gentle iron every other night. I also have some codeine tablets and I take one at bedtime.
However I had surgery about eight weeks ago. I had my second full iron panel blood test about four weeks ago. My ferritin levels. In fact all my levels appear to have increased. The Doctor who gave me my results said that it was a really good thing, but to keep on with the iron tablets for a bit longer. However, my doctor tells me this is as a result of surgery - ferritin levels will increase after surgery.
I am wondering if my iron levels are higher because of the surgery, will they drop back again after a period of time? over what time period? And then will my symptoms increase again?
has anyone else got any experience of this?

Ferritin is an inflammation marker, so it's not surprising that it would go up after surgery. It would also depend on whether you had blood transfusions.
Levels will get back down eventually .
High ferritin due to this episode should have no impact on your general health.
