Here I am on my 1st night taking CBD oil after ordering some after Shumbah’s recent post - not yet working but that’s not the point of this post.
I was excited to try but also had my natural wariness so checked online for all the safety info & found it interacts with a fair number of other medicines.
In fact, although it doesn’t have to say this as it counts as a food & not a medicine, in very small print on the bottle it says ‘not for those taking medicines’ ie all medicines.
I am on other medicines & looked it all up & eventually decided, wisely or not, to try it as mine aren’t listed.
But do take great care as there were about 50-60 on the list & some of them involved in the interactions are pretty common.
If anyone wants to see the list I can try to Google again but I found it on a search for safety of CBD or interactions with CBD
I also read it can cause liver damage. Not what I want but I am desperate enough to try it but again because it is not a medicine there is no obligation to have a package insert with all the side effect & safety info, so just passing on what I have read

I appreciate your cautious approach. I have severe RL (as did my mother). Tried cbd oil but it didn't work for me. Then a year ago my sister in law arranged for cannabis edibles and that was fantastic for me for about 4 or 5 mths but became less effective so I stopped after 6 mths. A sleep specialist prescribed pregabalin. I just said yes after only looking briefly online here and it seemed very much recommended (as per John's Hopkins of course) I've been taking this for 3 months slowly up to 400mg. No effect on my RL at all, but did get brain fog/memory loss, some blurry vision, and wobbly gait. All a bit scary. I suppose I was so desperate for an answer. But after reading about it elsewhere now I see that it can have some awful effects over time. I'll gladly reduce back of it and try cbd oil with a small amount of thc .35 percent and occasional cannabis edible. That feels to me like a safer option at the moment. All the best with the cbd oil. I hope it is a relief for you.
Hi Rayme, could you be taking any drugs that are making the symptoms of RLS worse such as SSRIs, statins, melatonin, Benedryl or certain blood pressure medications?
Have you tried taking some ferrous bisglycinate (25 to 50mg) an hour before bed on an empty stomach? I get relief from RLS in one hour by doing this. If it’s gonna work for you this way it will do so that very first night. If not then you might want to continue taking the iron in the hopes that raising your ferritin may lessen your symptoms. Before you undertake daily use of iron you should get your doctor’s permission. I’ll attach some other people who were helped with the iron.
Salemlake, thanks for your thoughts. I'll look at the iron and get some up to date tests done and follow up with my GP. I don't take any other medication but do take vitamins-B multi, Omega 3. Tried magnesium but it speeds up my already fast digestion. At the moment I am awake nearly all night, do online puzzles, listen to podcasts, get up for tea and toast at 5am then finally get to sleep for about 3 hrs from 6am, the odd thing is it's almost starting to feel like normal! It's torment really but I try hard to keep calm and as getting stressed is definitely not helpful. I'll consider ashwaganda and taurine again at some stage too. I grateful for this forum, read it often. So many of us looking for a solution. All the best to you.
Improving your ferritin to 100 or more helps 60% of people with RLS and in some cases completely eliminates their symptoms. When you see your doctor ask for a full iron panel. Stop taking any iron supplements 48 hours before the test, fast after midnight and have your test in the morning. When you get the results, ask for your ferritin and transferrin saturation (TSAT) numbers. You want your transferrin saturation to be over 20% but less than 45% and your ferritin to be at least 100. If they are not , post them here and we can give you advice.
You might want to try switching to pregabalin. Although they are basically the same drug except you don't need to divide the doses, and the side effects are basically the same, some people find that the side effects that bother them on one don't bother them on the other. Divide the gabapentin amount by 6 to get the correct dose.
Some things that can make RLS symptoms worse for some people are alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, sugar, carbs, foods high in sodium, foods that cause inflammation, ice cream, estrogen, dehydration, MSG, collagen supplements, electrolyte imbalance, melatonin, stress and vigorous exercise. Some things that help some people include caffeine, moderate exercise, weighted blankets, compression socks, elastic bandages, masturbation, magnesium glycinate, low oxalate diet, selenium, 5 minute shower alternating 20 seconds cold water with 10 seconds hot water finishing with hot water for another couple of minutes, hot baths, distractions, applying a topical magnesium lotion or spray, doing a magnesium salts soak, vitamins B1, B3, B6, B12, D3, K2, if deficient, and potassium and copper if deficient, massage including using a massage gun, using a standing desk, listening to music and yoga.
It did not help my legs HOWEVER what CBD does for me was really add to my depth of sleep .
When my head is busy it helps me get off to sleep and it help my good cholesterol and inflammation.
My doctor way explaining to me the other day that low does THC takes about 3 months to build up to a good dose for the body to have a really good effect on inflammation.
Im on heaps of medications.
I have never had CBD Interaction.
Studies on monkeys showed in one sitting if they would have to drink between 13 to 20 bottles to kill a monkey.
No such test has been done in humans but gosh you would have the runs.
I am pleased to hear some people with Parkinson’s and mild rls sufferers anxiety are getting results from CBD .
It’s also good for asthma and nausea.
My neighbour put a blast out to us neighbours her daughter had been to Octoberfest and she had been vomiting al day she was chai g some Zofram etc which I had but I said try this first and decanted some CBD oil . She could not believe it worked and so very quickly.
She was scared to tell her teenage daughter what she had given her 😂
What I bought was what was on your recent photo, Goodrays, from their own website rather than Amazon.
I was just alerting to possible interactions I read & the risk of possible harm & the small ( very small!! ) print on the bottle. Some of the meds mentioned were eg heart meds & I think the gist was that because they are metabolised by the same enzyme systems & therefore compete - which were documented on the list I found, it might affect the blood levels of the drugs & make them either less effective or not be metabolised as fast as normal so might reach toxic levels
