Anyone tried liposomal iron or sucrosomial iron to increase their ferritin level?

Does it have better bioavailability and result in a greater rise in the ferritin level than other iron forms?

Hi, it worked for me, I took sucrosomial iron and my ferritin levels risen up. I had to try this because I don’t tolerate other iron forms.

Can you please tell me the dose you took, and for how long, and the brand? And what was your ferritin level before and after? Did you experience any side effects from this form? Because I am thinking of trying it myself.

Interesting - I had not heard of sucrosomial iron - apparently a "designer supplement" that helps with absorption. "This confers SI unique structural, physicochemical and pharmacokinetic characteristics, together with high iron bioavailability and excellent gastrointestinal tolerance."

PatchMD sells a transdermal patch with iron supplementation. I have not tried it but there are plenty of good reviews on Amazon. Many of the gastric complaints (constipation chiefly) from traditional iron supplements (oral iron salts) can be eliminated with Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate. It's non constipating.

Yes, I have already been taking Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate for many months but my ferritin level is still low. Hence thinking of trying this other form if it's safe to do so.

It’s best to take iron on a an empty stomach. Nothing to eat two hours before or one hour after. Take iron with some Vitamin C to help absorption.

Vitamin D inhibits hepcidin which inhibits the absorption of iron, so vitamin D can help.

Magnesium helps Vitamin D absorption and K2 helps the calcium released by Vitamin D to get back in the bones where the blood is produced. And we have come full circle. Remember to test! Good luck

Yes, initially I was taking Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate on an empty stomach with Vitamin C but, after some time, I started to get stomach aches for some reason, so had to take it with some food (which I know reduces absorption, but no other choice). That's why I was thinking about trying this other form.

Thanks for the info about Vitamin D etc.

When I was having issues absorbing iron the doctor prescribed liquid ferrous sulfate. It’s not a prescription medication but it is located behind the counter at the pharmacy. I took it for years with no stomach issues. It is inexpensive and it works.

I have tried ferrous sulphate capsules during this time too, but the increase in ferritin was minimal. Would the liquid form have better absorbability?

Absolutely! I tried everything with no luck. The liquid was the only thing that worked.

Ok. Can you let me know the brand you used? And how much did your ferritin increase and in how long?

It took about a year to go from a ferritin of 30 to a ferritin of 200. Once I get there, I am supposed to stay there (or where my RLS symptoms) feel best for a couple years.

There are two types of liquid ferrous sulfate, one with 5% alcohol and one without. I find I get used to either. The one I have in the fridge is from Akorn from In-tec Pharmaceutical in NY. (BTW, keep it in the fridge, sooner or later both taste like liquid rust. :-)
