Having come off all drugs for RLS 8 months ago due to augmentation, I am now struggling on with only codeine for the times I am at my wits end. As it is supposed to be addictive I try to take it every other night just to get a couple of hours rest.
Just recently someone suggested CBD Cannabis oil and I wondered if anyone had tried it for RLS and whether it had any effect?

Hi. I also take codeine and rotate this monthly with tramadol to try to reduce the likelihood of tolerance. I think if you are not using the codeine for psychological reasons it's unlikely to cause addiction.Of course many drugs can cause physical dependency. I have tried CBD oil and it can give a couple of hours of sleep. It causes drowsiness/relaxation rather than stopping RLS symptoms. I have obtained this from CBD Brothers. Good luck and hope you get some relief from this difficult disease.x
Yes. I’ve been taking 50 mg of high quality CBD oil for over a year at night before bed. IT WORKS FOR ME!
Hi Tucatoo - Search For this in the main Hub, and you will find loads of information to refer to.. Numerous people have tried it. I'm no help because it is illegal here in the US
My hubby works for the DOD, so I think it would be risky and at the very least inconvenient to "prove" what it has or not. I'm happy for you, but I will stay out of it. Thanks
And let me add some personal experience woth cbd. I bought high quality, tested and guarateed cbd. It helped a little with sleep, but did nothing whatsoever for my rls. Several/many others have reported similar experiences re cbd and rls on this forum.
I’m surprised the CBD oil didn’t work. When I had taken higher and higher doses of Ropineral until it didn’t work at all, I tried CBD oil, and it worked! My oil had .03% THC. Maybe that is the difference. It’s cured my RLS for over a year!
Hi there. since 5 years ago I feel speacially my right hand palm and also left but less severe, like burning specially before sleeping at night. I was diagnosed with neuropathy and took Lyrica up to 300 mg per day and amitriptiline 25 mg. The drug helped me to sleep but the burning sensation continued. One day 2 years ago my son told me that He noticed I move my legs when sleeping, so I started to suspect about RLS. Finally I decided to discontinue the use of Lyrica and a Doctor gave me Mirapex with no success.
Then I tried Cannabis gums, so I am taking half gum that reads to have between 16 and 19 grams of THC. The symptoms have almost desappeared! I will say 90%. The only concern Is that I feel very relaxed and with hungry after one hour aprox of taking but I sleep spectacular and when I wake up at night I do not feel anymore my legs burning. My concern Is what happens in the long term eating cannabis daily, but I will highly recommend to try cannabis that always has been treated as a tabu and Is so stupid.
Yes I have just started medical cannabis - CBD and THC. I think I will not take it every night but try and have holidays from it. I feel with anything taking it every night will lead to some kind of dependance and I do not want that. I have heard that cannabis is regarded as a low dependance medication - however I instinctively wish to cycle it.
I use cannabis for my rls/ras and it works within few minutes and I actually get a whole nights peaceful sleep without having to take big pharmas poison hours before chill then I go to bed
Yes I have been using Cbd (2parts)/THC (1part) at night only for over a month. No RLS and I go to sleep quicker than normal. The only problem is at 70 yrs old I think I need more than 6 hrs sleep which seems to be as long as it lasts. I don’t have issues with my RLS when I wake but am just can’t stay asleep.
The other issue I have is that the THC causes my eyes to be blurred for most of the day the next day. Makes it hard to function. The doctor at the dispensary said that the THC can cause that but it should go away when I’m used to it. Not so far. Don’t know if I will continue it if it isn’t going to get better. Anyone else using THC have this problem? Did it go away? I don’t have many options as I augmented on dopamine drugs and Gabapentin gave me chronic UTIs. Opioids, even if I could find a dr that would prescribe them. Make me itch and then I have to hit the Benadryl which we all know makes RLS worse.
I posted my comments about CBD oil. Actually, the bottle says ECS Care 1500
Full spectrum hemp extract. Immediately, with one full dropper, I had no RLS for the first time at night for 3 hours, but the next dropper got me calmly thru the night. A miracle for me. I'd been suffering for 4-5 years.
I have tried it, 10% CBD Oil / 10 drops. In the beginning miracle like, after about 1 year , even 20 drops didn‘t help and it was getting pretty costly. It‘s still worth a try, everybody is different.
