Buttons52 is feeling chuffed with herself ...

Hello everyone and hope you all had a good stress free, smoke free, day.

In about 45 minutes, I will have been a non smoker for 3 whole days. That is a total of 72 hours which equates to a total of 4,320 minutes which in turn equates to 259,200 seconds and I could go on but won't as I will probably get bored before you do! and besides I don't think my calculator has room for many more digits (you never thought I did these calculations in my head surely!). I can't believe that I have got so far - it's only 5 days (I think it's 5) since I posted the question about stopping the odd cigarette and here I am and I am so proud of myself but I couldn't have done it without you - so thank you to everyone.

I am going to make myself a cuppa when I've done this and then I'm going to pick up the stitches for the 'v' neck on a jumper I've hand knitted while my other half watches the football (still don't understand why they don't just give each side a ball as it would save a lot of argument!).

Just one bad moment today when I got home from work and himself went out to collect the car from the garage and the ashtray was on the step and I looked at it and saw that he had left the packet of cigs next to it and I so wanted one but knew if I had one I would have to come on here and say that I had smoked and I just don't want to do that as everyone has been so kind and good and I don't want to let you or myself down. Thinking about it now, I would have wasted 259,200 seconds as they would have been for nothing if I had had that cigarette and I told myself from the beginning that I would be honest and open about everything to do with quitting and I do NOT want the embarrassment of having to admit not only to you but to myself as well that I have failed after only 3 days!

Right, this blog is becoming too long and will therefore become boring and as I don't have a joke for tonight, I have a phrase instead which will, I hope, give pause for thought.

TIME IS PRECIOUS, WASTE IT WISELY.

Hope each and every one of you has a nice rest of the evening and a good nights rest in order to carry on the battle tomorrow - healthy means wealthy!

The picture is NOT one I have taken but thought with the weather we are having at the moment it seemed appropriate.

Take care and bye for now,

Buttons52.

Well done Buttons for staying strong. Today I thought for the first time in 10 weeks what it would be like to just have one cig. and like you I didn't want to break all the hard work I have done in the last 10 weeks..We will always have the cravings but its the resistances that will stand to us.. Stay strong and all the good things will follows us..x

Hello John

Regret I don't have an iPod and if I did probably (for probably read definitely) wouldn't know how to work it. It's amazing what things we do to occupy our minds, thoughts and hands when not smoking. If you haven't inhaled 51345 puffs of smoke, I wonder what that equates to in terms of time - perhaps 1 puff = 1 second in which case that means 855.75 minutes which is 14.26 hours which doesn't seem that long for 5 and a bit months so perhaps 1 puff is more than a second - possibly 3 seconds? Would be interested in your thoughts.

Well done buttons.xxx

Well done to you. Especially for resisting the ciggies left on the step. I like your "TIME IS PRECIOUS, WASTE IT WISELY". I need to make that my mantra, if there were prizes for wasting time I'd be on to a winner every day. :)
