Good so far although have had my patience tested at work,wanted a cig on my way home due to the stress but had 2 sprays instead and had calmed down before I got home.hubby just had one at the back door and it stinks so told him to get outside and shut the door!! I hope I can beat this horrid habit.xx

Hey elissa, well done. You certainly have the right attitude to stop. As for hubby has he looked on this site. I will bob an old post on which may help put him off. Keep up the good work you non-smoker, :)

Harmful Chemicals In Cigarettes Chemical Description Benzene

(petrol additive)

A colourless cyclic hydrocarbon obtained from coal and petroleum, used as a solvent in fuel and in chemical manufacture - and contained in cigarette smoke.

A It known carcinogen associated with leukaemia.

Formaldehyde

(embalming fluid)

A colourless liquid, highly poisonous, used to preserve dead bodies - also found in cigarette smoke.

Known to cause cancer, respiratory, skin and gastrointestinal problems.

Ammonia

(toilet cleaner)

Used as a flavouring, frees nicotine from tobacco turning it into a gas

Often found in dry cleaning fluids.

Acetone

(nail polish remover)

Fragrant volatile liquid ketone, used as a solvent, for example, nail polish remover

Found in cigarette smoke.

Tar

Particulate matter drawn into lungs when you inhale on a lighted cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70 per cent of the tar in the smoke is deposited in the smoker's lungs.

Nicotine

(insecticide/addictive drug)

One of the most addictive substances known to man, a powerful and fast-acting medical and non-medical poison.

This is the chemical which causes addiction.

Carbon Monoxide (CO)

(car exhaust fumes)

An odourless, tasteless and poisonous gas, rapidly fatal in large amounts

The same gas that comes out of car exhausts

The main gas in cigarette smoke, formed when the cigarette is lit

Arsenic (rat poison)

Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison)

Well done .I find it incredible how bad smoking stinks It smellls totally different when you dont smoke eh

that's awful,I will show him,he gave up cold turkey New year did really well for four weeks then started again,once again thank you,don't think I could do it without these blogs to write it all down,going to tell my stop smoking clinical person to recommend this website,it really does help me.so am sure it could help others.xx

Thank you hoojafudge and kevin123 ,I am determined.... I have smelt awful for the last 30 years,and did not even realize,,no more smelly tobacco,I will shut up now,, nite nite sleep well everyone,day 3 tomorrow.one day at a time.xxx

Your doing brilliantly!! you have the right attitude to win the battle. stress got through it and the important comment,,,,,,"Hubby had ciggie at back door and it stinks", keep up that attitude and your brain will do a lot of hard work for you and before you know it YOU WILL BE FREE of the weed.
