spotting the weak moments...

had my first proper day out since giving up fags...went to Pop Art exhibition in london.thought it would be easy haven't thought too much about puffing the last few days really thought it was simple to control...but....but it werent; I kept spotting all the moments when I would have sloped off for a smoke, they were: After the 1st coffee; just prior to entering the main hall, after looking at the pictures; prior to going into restaurant; after the meal; just prior to jumping on the tube; once off the tube; when arrived home with that well earnt cup of tea....thats 8 cigarettes I was craving for today and I still fancy one now (9.45pm).Going out for the day doesn't feel the same!!! But I 've resisted the urge and tried to ignore it but WHEN,WHEN does it get easier.I suppose spotting those weak moments and thinking ah theres another one and then it passes....keep on keeping on.waiting for the day when I no longer spot those moments because they no longer exist....happy days. love to all , you lot keep me going.

Well done for hanging on in there. Have you gone cold turkey or are you using some assistance. Last weekend, I had to take a journey on a plane. All that hanging about for ages in a no smoking airport, the flight, the hanging about for ages waiting for your luggage and all the time being nagged at by the dreaded nicotine. It went really well, NRT lozenges kept the crazies at bay and I really didn't have to many problems.

Keep it up

Fags :)

thanks for the support Fags, i went cold turkey 3weeks ago today i also use just a mantra to keep me going, loads of chewing gum a LOT of swearing, and a few tears. my mantra is quite simple but seems to work for me...so far...every time I have an urge for a smoke Isay to myself... " i don't do that anymore", then just carry on with whatever it was I was going to do next. self brainwashing I think?

Hey Buddy, so your starting week 4 today - how brilliant is that? I used to say that to myself as well - still do if truth be told and I'm now nearly 10 months quit. I used lots of mints and at one stage had discussions with another member if we were ever going to stop shovelling in the mints. I'm pleased to say that I only have a few a day and some days I don't have any. I especially say "I don't do that any more" when I'm out and about and see people standing outside shops or wherever and smile to myself also thinking about how I won't be stinking any more. :)
