Hi Jimmydee, congratulations on making it so far, you are doing brilliant! :-)

Feeling this way can be quite normal, but it won't last forever.

This is one of the many ways that the nicotine receptors in your brain will keep trying to get you to give in and go back to smoking. Just stay strong and see these feelings as a positive sign that your body is recognising that it's not being fed all those nasty, poisonous chemicals.

Do you find that this feeling comes in waves, or is it a permanent feeling? Have a read through the following blog about how to see cravings;

quitsupport.healthunlocked....

There are two lots of cravings to be prepared for; physical and psychological. By going cold turkey, you will no longer have any nicotine in your system now, so your body won't really be craving for it (physical). It is more about the thought process, the thinking and the way you look at things (Psychological) that you need to work with. However, ust because it's all in the mind doesn't mean to say that it's all namby pamby, wishy washy stuff, the mind is a very powerful thing.

Have a read through the following so that you can understand a bit more on how the nicotine receptors continue to try and 'bother you';

quitsupport.healthunlocked....

You've done really well so far, so keep up the good efforts.

Nobody said it would be easy, but everybody says that it's worth it :-)

You've done so well in a warrior sort of way (Cold turkey). I've failed so many times and have just about had enough (45 years) and I am determined to put up with whatever nicotine can throw at me and come out of the other side.You are a week in front of me and I look at that as a serious achievement and something for me to envy. Carry on, we all know it's not easy (shit), but to people like me, you are a pioneer and I salute you.

Hi Jimmydee and welcome. 4 weeks is just brilliant and cold turkey too - respect! :) The best thing you can do is come on here and join in the daily chat. We like to have a bit of fun to cheer ourselves up a bit as well as having a moan when necessary. I've now been quit for over 9 months and couldn't have done it without the help of all the lovely people on here. I went cold turkey too and the best thing of all is that you've done it all in one hit - you haven't got to wean yourself off the nrt so you're winning already. You've been strong enough to get this far and you can do this thing.

Look forward to chatting again soon and don't forget - you have CHOSEN not to smoke any more. :)

Good luck, Andi :)

Hey Jimmydee, chin up. I'm on 5 day facing first weekend with no tobacco. Glass or two of wine this evening will hopefully take the edge of....

Like everyone else, I know I've got a painful few months ahead, with lots of up and downs.... As the days pass the ups will start to out way the downs... I promise... First time I gave up it was total hell. But after about six weeks a began to forget, after three months felt a true sense of happiness and achievement ... after 6 mths I was true non smoker.

Nine months in, night out in Brighton few ciggies thought I'd be fine... how wrong was i...

18 months later, I'm back on the wagon.... but this time I know I've done it once before, so can do it again.... and believe nobody thought I could!!

Stick with it and keep posting.....

Good Luck

Hi Jimmydee I am four weeks today too. :) :)

I know what you mean because sometimes I think I am not as much fun anymore. Which is bizzare as none of my friends or family smoked and I was always hanging about outside places having no fun at all.

I have smoked for 35 years so putting these kind of feelings down to breaking old habits. I am not cold turkey as I am on Champix and I am determined to kick this horror into touch once and for all.

You have done brilliantly keep your chin up and proudly shout I MIGHT BE CRABBIT BUT I AM A NON SMOKER :) then go treat yourself with the cash you have saved.

Good luck

Linda xx

Hi jimmy dee

I also went cold turkey now on week nine had big craving today and two hours later I beat it boy does it make you feel good. Yep I have felt alone nasty and downright rotten but it won't last forever. I am nearly £400 better off and it feels good. KEEP GOING if you want it enough you will do it.
