Hi Hassaan, Losing sense of taste in another of the many symptoms that people can experience as part of quitting. Like all other symptoms, they don't last for too long and you should find you will end up with improved senses of taste and smell. If you are really concerned, go and talk to your GP :) :).... All the very best on your quit journey

if you have a look under the topics heading - you will find lots of info on what to expect from quitting, I does help take away some of the panic, I remember getting a very acidic stomach and heartburn which i had never had in the past but seen that was another one of the many symptoms of your body repairing itself after quitting :)

Aup Hassaan, its great to see you and a massive well done to you toooo for reaching over 2 weeks quit now :) :)

Hmmm, I see its very nearly 3 weeks, so I will have to go out and get you another new badge for Friday :D :D :D

Glolin has given you some excellent advice Hassaan :) :) We've had other members that just go off their favourite foods and drinks for a couple of weeks :o So just let your taste buds and smell do their own thing for a couple of weeks, then they should calm down to being something like normal :) :)

Hassaan, I hope your very proud of yourself for your achievement, cos I tell you, I am :) :)

Keep strong and focused now :)

Although this post is very old I wanted to say that resources online still haven't really changed a lot over the years and most literature is extremely focused on the positives of giving up smoking, which makes changes in your health more prominent when you aren't expecting them. I understand the need for a positive attitude however this shouldn't occlude the negatives. I gave up almost 2 weeks ago, I have stomach and bowel problems anyway, and after giving up my stomach and bowel issues are worse and over the last day or two I have almost totally lost my sense of taste. Another new thing for me is feeling tired. Since I gave up i've found myself struggling to keep my eyes open at all times of day. However I am positive they will go away, so if anyone comes along in the future and reads this, just know your not alone :-)

Hello crimsonknight, welcome to Quit Support and well done on your 2 weeks quit.

We don't purport that people will feel instantly well after quitting smoking or that it isn't a struggle. We have or are going through withdrawal symptoms which are inevitable but also specific to individuals as we are all very different.

This support mechanism works because we know and have experience what others have gone through, which in itself is a great help. It is also the right thing to acknowledge and congratulate on members achievements for which they quite rightly are very proud.

I would suggest that you have a look at the pinned posts that you will find either to the right or at the bottom of your screen. There you will find a wealth of information and tips to support you in your quit.

Please keep reading you will find you are not alone and if you could let us have your actual quit day, we can add you to the database and assign you with a progress badge which shows you and everyone else how well you are doing.

Bye for now

Hi Hassaan, well done to you for coming so far and sticking with it :-)

Although the senses of taste and smell are usually one of the first things to return, they can usually have a little run around in different directions before hand :o

Great advice already given to you so far, just keep on keeping on and you'll be grand.

Big pat on the back coming atchya :-) :D

Hi hassaan , Yes it is normal my taste went when I quit the cigs as well. It is your body taking all the bad stuff that you when smoking making your taste buds play around. The more days you go and months you go your taste will come back. But you are doing really well keep up the good work :D xx
