Hi Nicette, welcome to the mad house ( forum ). Well done on trying to quit, I dont know anythink about zyban but I,m sure someone here will help you with that one. If you want to quit then you will, stay focused on what you want and have patience with yourself, it takes time to adjust to life without ciggys, but if you dont enjoy smoking anymore then your way ahead of others who quit and still enjoy them, it must be harder for them. I gave up 7 mnths ago because I also stopped enjoying them. I found it easy and have suffered no side affects at all. All the members here will help you and support you so keeping checking in and

GOOD LUCK

Hi

Welcome to the group Nicette40. I hope you’re finding the information, stories and experiences very useful in helping you plan your quit date.

Emjay has put lots of information on in relation to Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Champix (Varenicline) and Zyban (Bupropion). quitsupport.healthunlocked....

Like the other products they can help you quit smoking but what many people like about Champix and Zyban is that you carry on smoking while you start taking the tablets, unlike NRT.

Champix and Zyban is usually a 12 week course. It really is advisable to see the course through until the end, even if you are feeling confident about stopping the tablets. You set your quit date usually between days 8-14. Most people find that they will ‘naturally’ feel as though they don’t want to smoke. However, the sooner you stop smoking, the better these products will work for you. Both Champix and Zyban work with the receptors in the brain that lead you to believe that you enjoy smoking. To put it simply; it takes the pleasure out of smoking. You may find yourself lighting up a cigarette and then letting it burn down, others smoke it and question themselves as to why they have just done that. Other feedback is they get a metallic type taste when smoking.

Most GP’s will only prescribe Champix or Zyban if you are receiving help and support from somewhere else, so for example - your local stop smoking service. S it is really important you get the support from your local stop smoking service as well as coming on here. Above all keep positive and keep on with your quit.
