Hi Wonder.... It could quite possibly be down to you giving up smoking. Swelling can also be caused by changes in the circulatory process - more blood to the extremeties, which in the past were deprived because of poor circulation. This could also be the reason for your pins and needles. Once your circulation returns to normal and your hands receive more oxygen this should stop. However, if you are worried, please speak to your Doctor.

Well done for coming so far, remember to stay positive!

Before quitting, When the Nic content ran low, a strange twitch developed in my fingers joints, and I had to snap my fingers (or toes). I have quit all forms of Nicotine for a month now and all this time I have a permanent dull pain in all my finger joints (nothing in toes). And the urge to snap fingers or to bite the elusive nails is so intense that I bend them hard and so often that it is painful. I do not realise till after I snapped or bent my fingers.

However, I have not seen myself doing such things to my thumbs, which hurts the most.

Any one has any ideas or similar experience, please tell me about it.

Hi all, I have just quit about 12 days ago. Little background on me. Started smoking at about 24 years old. I'm turning 30 next month. A lot has changed since then, my thoughts towards smoking as just turned to me being disgusted with the thought of having one. None the less my body still feens here and there since everything else I do is the same (job). I am a graphic designer/painter/thrifter, so I rely on my hands everyday (don't we all). But it seems that all the "tingling" on the tips of my fingers and look a little swollen, but have that kind of mini cut glass feeling on your skin. hard to explain but it's not "intense" but the feeling is defiantly there. It comes and goes. I live near Sacramento, so it's hot. My hands get really sweaty (more than usual). Now also I just moved from San Francisco, so the weather change has also effected me. I have also lost a lot of weight from the move. Just being motivated to be a beast at what I'm trying to accomplish with my body and career. Now I'm really thinking that this is all caused from me quitting. And my mind telling my body "NO!". and Yes, I feel so animated in a way where I feel like there is an argument going on within. haha. I will post again if it goes away or stays. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this. If you are trying to quit smoking, applaud yourself. This is one of the hardest thing to quit. Don't think about quitting, just quit. I threw the remainder of the stogues in the toilet. What really helped me quit was thinking of cigarettes as a person. A person that is trying to mess up your focus. That jerk that just wont leave you alone. Give that stank-eye and move on. :)
