Feeling so low right now. Need to lose weight, get fit, stop smoking. It all seems too much. Don't know where to start.

Hi mlb542, Well done for your decision to quit👏

Welcome to Quit Support.💙

It’s never easy to quit but it’s easier with a little support.💪

It sounds like you are looking for a dramatic change in life style.

Just take one thing at a time, write down all your reasons for wanting to quit and pin it somewhere you often go. Mine is still on the fridge.

Decide how you want to quit, are you going to use NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) or are you going cold turkey, without any aids.

Please read the pinned posts,📌 there is lots of information there. You will find the posts to the right or at the bottom of your screen depending which device you are using. Just click “posts” then click “pinned posts”.

May I suggest you drink plenty of water💧💦 to flush out the toxins and keep yourself hydrated.

When you are organized let us know your quit date so that we can assign you a winners' badge and add your name to the wall of winners.

If you feel you need any more help please don’t hesitate to ask. There is always someone here.

May I remind you not to post any personal information.

Good luck with your quit.🍀🚭xx

Hi there mlb as Tubbs says start with one thing at a time. To try and do all those things at one time is setting yourself up for failure. Where smoking is concerned make a plan and set a date to quit and importantly keep this community close for support.

You’d feel a lot better if you chose just one thing to begin with. The others will follow on in their own time. One step and one day at a time. I needed to do all three too, but decided to start with smoking and have now managed over 4 weeks. I will probably start some brisk walking soon every other day and will address the ‘sweet tooth’ in a few months time. Setting realistic goals is important for me as I have been prone in the past to set unrealistic ones and then use them as an excuse to stop trying. Make the decision to start a new journey and you’ll already feel better about yourself. You are worth it!

Hi mlb👋

Welcome to Quit Support

As the other lovely people have said already, just focus on one thing at a time. Small changes will make a big difference.

Quitting smoking is the best decision for your health, so start there and if you can fit in some exercise, this will really help👍🏼

Have lots of healthy snacks ready to snack on🍇🥕🍎

Just remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, take the first small step and you can quit smoking with the help of this terrific community🚭✅xx

Dear mlb🌞 well if your on the bottom , you might as well start from there.😉 make a decision what you want most.i would suggest quitting smoking , as one can tend to gain a few pounds when quitting😁 no need to overwhelm yourself and do neither. You will make the right choice. Just remember to take one day at a time. One goal at a time. Come on here for support, we are always here🌼👍

Everyone who has replied is quite right - I have another question though - are any of these changes you plan for health reasons? Have you been advised to begin these changes for any reason? It is the "too much change" that worries me the most for if you have been advised about all or any of these changes, you should try and begin with the one that is the most problem at the moment since "have to" can be a very emotive reason for change.

The quickest thing on the list could be to give up smoking, although the best one to begin with could be losing weight although if you began with getting healthier with say, a regime of walking - could benefit weight loss, your health and assist in stopping smoking too.

The other thing you really must consider is the time of year - I am not advocating you do not stop one or all of your goals but to consider the stress that Christmas time can bring with holidays and sometimes just being alone can raise the stress levels at this time of year.

Whatever you choose to do will be right for you and PLEASE return to this forum when your mind is made up - we do not bight or pre judge. Stay positive and believe in yourself and remember if you REALLY want something, nothing and I mean nothing is impossible - within reason that is!
