Another attempt ๐Ÿคž

Hello everyone,

Well as my title suggests i fell off the non-smoking wagon yet again.

Having a heart attack, angiograms & ffr test, i knew i had to stop.

My quit date was 20/11/19 still hanging in there but struggling a bit this morning.

Isnโ€™t it crazy that every smoker, especially those with health problems, knows the damage they are doing but still struggle to succeed.

Iโ€™m trying to stay positive & smoke-free ๐Ÿคž

Hope everyone has a good day ๐Ÿ˜€xx

Hi Vee,please don't beat yourself up about falling off the wagon. Thanks for being honest about it,not just to us but to yourself too.

As Corrina's daily chat says "Proceed as if success is inevitable"

Just take all these tries as learning curves, " this time is your time to shine"

Good luck Vee๐Ÿ€๐Ÿšญxx

Everyones different Vee70. Luckily Smoking never had a hold on me for some reason. Could pack in anytime. Which i did on a few occassions for usually the same reason. Use the money to better myself. And i am talking 30 years ago. These days you could buy a cheap holiday on a weeks fags money at the prices now. I stopped completely December 21st 1990. When smoking Woodbines killed my dear Mom at 62 years of age. I only wish i had the same luck with cutting down my food to loose weight. Love my food and always hungry. Hope this Motivates you Vee70. To use the fag money for a nice break. That the memories you get will be with you forever. Stay Strong. And good luck . Brian

I read once, that each time we fail we gather more information for our next attempt at quitting!! Stick with it. The freedom is fantastic!!

Thankyou, i read that too, hope this is the last attempt x

I wonder if the gentle gentle does any good sometimes, knowing that when one fails there will be sympathetic noises. I don't mean that is not a good approach for some folk but how do we judge what is appropriate?

From a purely personal point of view if someone fails to stop then the motive is not strong enough and the person really does not want to stop. After a heart attack, lying in hospital with furred up arteries knowing you have abused your body to the extent of almost irreparable damage does tend to be a gut wrenching moment to realise the damage you have done and what is required.

What about the cost? ยฃ10 a packet of cigarettes is just not sustainable for most people, especially when there are so many better things to spend ones money one - new car, holiday, clothes, smell, health etc etc. Brutal to be kind can work as a powerful shake up to face the truth. If you values your life would you continue to play Russian Roulette even if you were a lucky gambler? Have also to question the help you are getting - are you on patches, is there anyone supporting you when you need it, are you in a monitored plan?

The world is paved with good intent however we are the masters of our own destiny and if you want to gamble your future and that of your family and loved ones, well that is your choice and I respect that.

Hi Vee70

Please try to have a daily positive attitude & each day have a mantra along the lines of YES I CAN (QUIT) -say it to yourself - if you find yourself thinking about having a smoke swap it for YES I CAN QUIT !!!!

like you ve said you had a heart attack -think of that & think of your lungs. Take care
