Hi All, I was doing so good staying off the smokes as I had a cruise coming up (it's past now) & my quit date was Aug. 12, 2019. This group cruise ended Sept. 4, actually Sept. 2, but with Hurricane Dorian, the Miami Port Terminals were closed so the ship had to turn around & head off to 2 repeat islands, then ship was allowed to dock in Miami. My roommate was highly allergic to cig smoke and the entire group (35 of us) didn't smoke. I excessively coughed during that whole cruise - I'm chalking that up from my body telling me I've got a lot of stuff to cough out of my lungs. The day after coming home from this trip, I felt good that I lasted without a cig (didn't even bring a "panic pack" with me) that afterwards, I felt I needed a "reward" for lasting that long so I did buy a pack & smoked one, then another the next day & polished off the pack within 5 days. Not bad since I was a pack a day smoker before quitting, then had the "reward relapse". I know, poor excuse. Yesterday, Sept. 10, 2019 I quit again & hope I don't start excessive coughing again. I have a new goal - it's going to take more than the last time to attain this one - it's the guy I've been seeing kissing me as we haven't kissed on the mouth for over a year. I miss kisses! I'm doing this quit for both of us - it looks like it's going to be a long relationship & the reward is being able to romance kiss so that's a great incentive to keep going. ~Perry Torre

Sorry to hear that u relapsed. But glad to know that u r now again back at trying to quit smoking. U now know, there is no such thing as one puff, one cigarette, etc. Not one puff ever is the mantra. U can't reward urself for not smoking, by smoking :) Failed attempts are a part of this quit journey, we all have been there, just keep trying. U will win.. Cheers..

Hi Tubby54, you can remove my badge(s). I have this great app on my cell phone - it's called Easy Quit on Android. The app. face is a Green person kicking a bent cigarette. It shows you how many hours, then goes into days, then weeks, and at each step, gives you badges and stars. It also as other features on it that helps. It's exciting to see your progress. Just like last time, am doing Cold Turkey again. Only hope I don't hack & cough my way through weeks.

You've done what you had to do, which was pick yourself up and start again. In some ways relapses can be affirmation that smoking is not what you want to do any more and takes that doubt away that nasty Nic keeps niggling you with.

So in four words its NOPE(Not One Puff Ever) for you ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Šโœ”๐Ÿ‘

Ooh that makes sense, this is my 1st whole day, definitely feeling ready, even given my vape to my mum to hide. Going for it!! ๐Ÿ˜€

If u need the vape to help u not smoke then use the vape.. Vape will help with cravings that will hit when nicotine levels drop. Nicotine is not the harmful bit, it is the addictive bit. So if u get that sorted from a safer source u save urself from inhaling dangerous smoke. But if u can manage without vaping (I never used vape, my husband did) that is good too.. All the best..

Hi quit07, thx for your suggestion of vaping. I don't know much about vaping except it's been on the news for the last 2 days. I've gone back to Cold Turkey and when I quit last time for that amount of time, I didn't have a nic crave, or go on a eating binge. My home is cleaner as that is a good distraction. I'll be starting walking s'more soon too.

I read where the average person relapses a couple of times before they finally find they are tired of smoking; the flavor doesn't do it anymore, health reasons, etc. I have a special goal and if the chemistry is in a kiss, then I'll know about that too down the recovery road. :)
