Tell me what you know for sure is good about not smoking.............................

What I know that is so good about not smoking:  No more anxiety, no more headaches, breathing great, working out, focus more on what is important instead of thinking when my next cig is, feel much healthier, know that i am probably doing the best thing ever for myself.

What I hate about not smoking:  Weather has been beautiful and would love a cig and glass of wine on my deck, feeling less motivated to get things done, like cleaning - as I would always have smoke breaks (something to look forward to), Feel as if I am a totally different person now that I am not smoking and have feelings of being sad at times.  Wierd, like who am I without my cig?  Uggghhhh.  Hate all the negative feelings and am trying to focus on the what I know that is so good about not smoking.  Would love to hear from others on what they know that is so good about not smoking........

Hiya! It's funny but that's how I feel too, I love the feeling that I'm now smokefree and my breathing is back to normal and I don't worry about smelling of smoke but I do miss it too, I used to enjoy sitting outside with a drink n a fag, I've got my first holiday (since quitting) coming up in 3 weeks and I'm not looking forward to it as I won't be smoking (sounds stupid when you say it out loud) so you aren't alone xxxx

Hi lozzi23.  Yes, exactly and I understand what you are going through too.  Crazy.  We need to keep reminding ourselves what the tobacco companies have done to make us want to go back to this deadly habit!

I have so much more money in my account now that I don't smoke.

I'm fitter

My family and friends are really proud of me for quitting

Having to have an operation as a non smoker is safer

My house, clothes and me no longer smell like an old ashtray

I can travel on long haul flights without getting agitated about my next cig

I can now stay seated for my entire meal when I go out for dinner

My skin is nicer

My teeth have stopped being so wobbly 😁

Hello Klaureti, I think most of us feel the same.

Smoking did me no favours as I got the lung cancer that goes with smoking.  You can read my story in the topics section under my quit story. Titled Thank you quit support.

I now have more money , to enjoy on things that wont harm me.  I have got over the occasional urge of wanting to smoke.  Life is precious make the most of it.  xx

I love that I have more energy, and I can do things without getting winded so quickly.  I don't smell like smoke. One thing that quitting does is frees up all that time that you used to spend smoking - that has been hard - I used to take breaks at work, now I don't, and I have to figure out things to do to take up that time.  But then again, I have more time now, since I'm not spending it smoking. :)

Hi teeny64.  It seems like the desires were stronger last night at 17 days then in the beginning wierd.  Remembering how awful and addiction it is to us!

I know but it is true it last a few minutes and it's gone. I still thinking about smoking 24 /7 iv been really strong and not letting it beat me. Smelly costly fags

Hi klaureti😊

What I like about NOT smoking is:

1. Less fear/anxiety of stroke and COPD

2. I enjoy becoming healthy and being free of the 4000+ chemicals that use to be circulating in my body and killing me slowly

Keep up your awesome quit🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you Arizonasands!

Great challenge!

What I like:

Knowing I don't smell

Knowing I'm not in a pitiful minority, hooked by the tobacco industry

Not having to clean my car inside, and it not stinking

Not having to attempt to freshen my breath by chewing gum before I get home or meet anyone,

Not taking unnecessary trips out to make the time alone to smoke away from people I love, who hated it,

Not doing something they hated.

The money I'm saving.

What I don't like about not smoking:

Nothing! Really. I just don't miss it at all.

Very interesting post and replies, something we maybe don't think about when quitting. This has made me realise that you don't just carry on living the same life but without the fags. We need to adopt a whole new approach and attitude to the  way we do things and the reasons we do things. Enlightening!! Thanks klaureti for highlighting this issue x
