im really struggling with breathlessness and sleeping my ECG and xray were clear, im on medication already for anxiety but that was even before i stopped. im not bringing anything up from my chest but feel like i have the weight of an elephant sitting on it. any advice appriciated

Hello evey, First of all welcome to quit support. Sorry to hear about you breathing problem, if you go on to hints and tips their are some breathing exercises which may help you. If you still feel worried , go back to your G.P. and check your breathing out. You may have a chest infection. Or perhaps see if any medication you are taking needs changing. I had a phase of not breathing properly and once my medication was changed it was much better.

Dont forget it is still early days on your quit , and it does affect people in different ways. Thing will get better. :) :) xx

Well done on getting through your first 2 months of quitting :) :)

We all go through different symptoms when we quit, but like Jilly said, if you are worried about your health, keep visiting your GP. I can tell you i struggled with sleeping for the first few months of my quit and sometimes i was still awake at 4am. Looking back, i must have been a zombie :D :D and also had a really bad tightness of the chest to the point where i had to brace myself if i sneezed as it felt like my ribs were going to split in two.

Quitting is like a roller coaster of emotions both physical and psychological ..BUT...it is so worth the roller coaster journey and it does get easier :) :)

Hi Evey and a big warm welcome to our lovely quit support community :) and a massive well done to you for reaching your 10th week quit :) :)

I see you've had some great advice already and all I can add to that is, that we are all different, soo our bodies take different times to heal and get used to not having all those toxins that came with smoking :o

If you have any doubt, then please go back to your GP

Try to stay strong and focused on your quit and things will get better for you :) Please would you let Jillygirl or myself know your quit date, then we can add it to the Wall of Winners, thank you :)
