Tomorrow will be 1 week of not smoking. Today all I can think about is wanting a cigarette...but I really don't want one. What is my problem?

Hiya Molly and welcome to quit support :)

Congratulations on nearly a week, well done to you :)

Don't worry it's not a problem but just part of the quitting process :)

In the beginning we can think a lot about them and I even dreamt about them as well :)

You are doing ever so well and can I ask are you using any nicotine replacement, coz it will help to understand your situation a bit better :)

If you read some of the old posts on here, you will see you are not alone in this and it will help to take your mind of the cravings :)

Sometimes a walk helps or reading, knitting, cleaning or whatever works to distract you :O

Mr nic doesn't let go too easy but stay positive and determined and you will get there :) x

Hi Molly, maybe try the lozenges, these are very good :)

You just suck it for a bit, then sort of park it up in one side of your mouth until you get another craving, then suck it again :)

Good luck Molly :)

Aup Molly, a massive big well done to you for getting to very nearly a week quit :) :) and a warm welcome to this lovely community :) :)

As Briarwood has said, there is no problem with you :) , the problem is mr nic giving you some hassle :o :P which he does from time to time :P

Hey Molly, you stick with it, grit your teeth, thump a cushion, kick the mower or sing out lowed '' the hills are alive '' anything to get rid of that mr nic/craving :o :) :)

You are doing so sooooo well Molly :) :) you keep focused on your quit :) :) just remember, NOPE !! Not One Puff Ever :) :)

Pete :)

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS for get through your first week Molly and welcome to quit support. As the others have said, you are experiencing cravings to try and con you in to smoking again. These do get easier as the weeks roll by. Recognise them for what they are and let them know who is the Boss:) :)

You dont want a cigarette... so dont have one :) :) each time you win the craving battle, it gives you more strength for the next one :) :)

All the very best on you quit journey :) :)

Hi SwimmingMolly and welcome aboard Quit Support :-)

Congratulations on making it through your first week of stopping smoking and welcome to week 2 :-)

How you are feeling is pretty normal, so try to just go with the flo :-) The gum is a really good stop smoking product - when used properly. Try not to chew it all the time though as you'll find that you get jaw ache, hunger pangs and rumbles in your tummy - you may even get hiccups. Chewing it all the time means that you will release all the nicotine a lot faster and will go through more pieces.

The best thing to do is just have a little chew on the hour every hour initially and as and when you feel a craving coming on or know that you have a trigger moment due - so for example if you have just finished a meal, or your with a friend who is about to smoke - then this would be the time to have a couple of chews of your nicotine gum. Once chewed, park it to the side of your mouth - Chew and park, that's it ;-)

You can do this, just stay strong, stay positive and keep smiling :-)
