Just a link to an article in the Daily Mail today about the tricks that tobacco companies play to keep you addicted to the deadly weed.

I know pinkie mentioned something about this before, but I'd never actually seen anything about that.

Be proud you have stopped and hopefully this will motivate you to stay stopped!

I'm just so happy to have these evil things out of my life

:) :) xx

Thanks Chrissie

Just disgusting, and I can't understand why there is so much acceptance and so little regulation of this drug compared with so much over others. Tax I guess, and powerful lobbies.

Yes and only 60 cigs,,,, eeekkkk.

Total scum are they not? The tobacco manufacturers I mean. And this should highlight really, why they should NEVER, NEVER get full reign of the manufacture and supply of e-cigs because they'll do the same thing. There is no level to which large corporate organisations will not stoop to part the hard working man from his money! Governments will never bite the hand that feeds them, so no point in looking to them for any moral guidance. Governments with morals, hahah, that's a bit of a contradiction in terms isn't it.

Chrissie I hope your well :) and thank you soo much for posting this article, because it has opened my eyes to how the tobacco companies get us hooked eh ??

Perhaps if fags were fags, I mean just tobacco, then we could just quit smoking when we wanted to eh :o

How have they got away with it ? and more important, how are they getting away with it ??

ChrissieG profile image
ChrissieG in reply to monky

Thank you monky and so true! I can't believe it's actually legal to do those things - I'm just surprised that they haven't developed a cigarette that makes you smell nice which you are smoking, which is one of the incentives for people to stop as well! :)

droopyJ profile image
droopyJ in reply to ChrissieG

Maybe its due to all the tax we pay on them....... the amount of people who make them..... distribute them.... that's a lotta loot for the governments and a lotta jobs for each country as well :x

Chrissie your right about the smell though, am really surprised that they haven't done that.... maybe it has another reaction with whatever other toxins are currently in them????

Either way an excellent post... thank you

-x-

Hi Pinkie - I don't think anything would surprise me about these companies now - and yet they get away with it! :) xx

Well ladies & Gents

12.1billion in tax....... 9.5 billion in excise duty and 2.6 billion in VAT

Over 70,000 people rely on work within the UK re cigarettes..... makers/factory workers/distribution/suppliers etc.......

This is the reason why its not scrutinised as closely as you would think...... this is probably also the reason why they want to change ecigs..... be very curious to know what these figures would be in a years time when more and more people are taking up vaping

Ok Ill get off my soapbox now...... see what you have done to me lovely Chrissie :D :D

in reply to droopyJ

Oooooh thank you Droopy for researching that info. Makes me so happy to know that I, well not just I, all of us on here at the very least are depriving the parasites of some of that money for the foreseeable. Ha, ha di ha ha. And to think they try to accuse smokers of being a drain on the health service - we were paying for it anyway. Tell you what tho, they could get the piggin roads fixed with that money, not to mention all the money they get from motorists to make my life on a bike that much more enjoyable. OK, I'll get off my soap box now too :) :)

At last I got a yes from medic re the additions of smart drugs of broncholdilation and one to help concentration. Also happiness area of brain shows nicotine grows it and without it is smaller than normal!!!!!!!

I mean, so we're gonna have to manage without what we know is missing. That's a drag :(

in reply to Betts

Hmm. Did you have a nice weekend Betts in your campervan in Silverdale? Was lovely weather. I will have to go now tho, as hubby is going on, telling me its time to go to bed.

Betts profile image
Betts in reply to

We did :) Lovely!

Night sin x

in reply to Betts

Mind you there's nicotine in an e-cig so why does that not make us happy. In fact the amount I use an e-cig I should be absolutely deliriously happy.

Betts profile image
Betts in reply to

I should be giving the laughing policeman a run for his money - you probably too young to remember those,

Hubby would confirm this is not the case.

Its not just the nic, or even just the habit. There's drugs in there go beyond the nic. And they get away with it. Hmph.

in reply to Betts

Nope, don't know any laughing policemen, you don't mean sleeping policemen do you? Anyways, must really, really run along now. Night Betts and Yoghurtweaver there.

Memory of a policeman dummy in a glass box at the end of a pier. Put a penny in and he laughed uproariously. Bit like a ventriloquist dummy??

I'm wondering if I dreamt it now :D

I remember something similar but it's the laughing clown on Blackpool pleasure beach :) :)

in reply to Betts

Yes I remember now you mention it. I remember the same one as Fresher. Wonder if it's still there. Not been on the pleasure beach for years.
