I can confirm that the cravings get worse before they get better (akin to the darkest part of the night being just before dawn). I read that you have put aside your ecig so that suggestion is out the window lol (I've been attached at the hip with my vape mod since quitting nearly two months ago). Lack of sleep is not uncommon when quitting smoking, I am still having trouble even with my mod. I'm not sure of your aversion to sleep aids, but perhaps that might be an option to help out temporarily? Keep your chin up, it'll end someday and you'll be glad you quit! I know I am :)

ps: In the words of Dori, just keep swimming :D

Hey hun

You are doing brilliant, so keep strong, but as gibber says the cravings do get worse, i am using my ecig, and i thought " hmmm this is easy"....then at about 2 months out of nowhere i was climbing the walls, and i was still using my ecig too.

I am using the 2 prong attack, getting smoke free first, then giving up the ecig, you seem to be be moving really quickly and already of your ecig, so well done, but if you find the cravings are getting to great then use your ecig hun, you dont want all that hard work to go to waste :)

Not sleeping is really common too, i think its just your body detoxing from the 4000+ poisons it is used to when we were smoking. x

Good Morning smokefreeandme!

Well it sounds to me like you are going through the classic withdrawal symptoms of stopping smoking. I've never really believed that the nicotine is out of your body within 48 hours, to me the major withdrawal happens after that.

So lovely, take big deep breaths, smile, say to yourself "this is fine, this is only withdrawal from cigarettes, I can cope with this, this is not painful it's just uncomfortable, all of this will pass and I will feel fantastic again - I CAN do this, I CAN do this, I CAN do this - I AM TAKING BACK CONTROL!!!"

That is exactly what is happening, your body is screaming out for nicotine. Scream back at it, tell that monster it is not going to win, you are in control and you are not going to smoke!

Okay, if you feel so bad and so unhappy and if you feel there is any danger of you being tempted by just one puff of a cigarette - use your e-cig! The worse thing you can do right now, which I know you don't want to do, is have a cigarette

However I can absolutely promise you that everything you are going through right now will pass, and once it does, that will be the worst part over.

I am so so proud of you lovely, but I know you can do this because I know you really really want to do this and I am rooting for you and supporting you 150%.

If possible get outside and walk it off saying positive things to yourself whilst you are doing it - if that is not possilbe, get back on here and talk to me, I'm here for you right now and I completely understand what you are going through.

Never ever doubt your decision - it really is worth it in the end, I absolutely promise you

Love and Big Hugs, Chrissie xxx :) :)

Your doing great, I remember not being able to sleep and even when I did I had the most vivid dreams/nightmares and always ended up dreaming of smoking. It does pass and you will get over this part before you know it. Stay strong :)

Hola chica feel your pain I was feeling like that yesterday evening with my boyfriend at home,... its horrible because normally I'm not like that at all but I try and tell myself that it will pass and that it will be worth it in the end. Snapping at someone is much better than being one of the 280 people who die of smoking related illnesses a day in the UK alone right? I guess we will both stop snapping and getting angry as our body adjusts to such a huge change.

Lack of sleep is probably not helping either. I've just posted to Mimi recommendations for herbal sleepy tea
