I have stopped smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey nonsmokernow
welcome to Quit Support and a huge congratulations on making it through to Day2
It's great to hear that you can feel the benefits of stopping already. Are you using any form of NRT or going it alone?
We'll help keep you motivated and to stay on track
Big well done to you
Thanks I took 1 x 1mg champix the night b4, 2 yesterday and 1 today. I have just been diagnosed with DCIS...but at first I was given a prognosis of 50% survival and FREAKED. (The radiographer diagnosed me (!) a bit too dramatically. The Breast Cancer Nurse has now told me it's DCIS. That makes life more hopeful.
I know DCIS is not necessarily related TO BREAST CANCER (SMOKING) BUT THE WAY MY 10 YR OOLD LOOKS AT ME EVERY TIME i LIGHT UP NOW IS HURTING ME A LOT. SHE CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY, WITH CANCER, i CAN CONTINUE TO SMOKE.
nOR CAN i. 9sorry for the apital letters in wrong place there).
So, I'm quite excited.....I know also I'll have to have surgery, possibly radiotherapy as well - I'll know this next week...and the recovery rate is slowed down significantly with smoking.
Aup nonsmokernow, a big warm welcome to this lovely quit site and a big well done to you for putting your foot down and quitting just like your Daughter would like you to do eh
I'm so sorry, but I dont really know about DCIS, so I will have to google it to find out, but am sure that now you have quit smoking, your body will heal a lot faster
As our lovely adviser, Emjay has said, champix is an excellent treatment to help you stop smoking, but please, please, take it from me, keep to the stated dose and take as prescribed to the last tablet, please dont get cocky like me and cut it short, cos thats why I'm still here eh
Good luck NSN and if you need any help with the champix, just give us a shout eh
Pete
It sounds like you've been having a bit of a roller-coaster of a ride lately then
However, it sounds as though you also have a very good motive for wanting to stop smoking and to stay stopped. It's funny how young people can reason and see things a lot clearer than us sometimes isn't it
By stopping smoking, you most certainly are reducing your risks of having to face countless health issues, so lets keep hold of that with you
Champix is a really good treatment in helping smokers to stop, when used correctly. Also, as it is a 12 week course - it is important to remember to continue taking the full course.
As you have now reached your quit date, I am assuming that you are now on 1mg twice daily and are into your 2nd week of taking them?
Keep us posted on how your breast cancer treatment is going and remember to stay positive won't you
Well done to you and congratulations on taking the best step forward for the better of your health
