I know I'd set my quit day as Christmas Day but I finished a pack last night and decided how ridiculous it would be to waste more money on another pack just to get through till Wednesday. So I've gone all day without. Was busy getting ready for Wednesday so hasn't been too hard. My partner who works away asked me to get him a couple of packs for when he gets home next week and I totally forgot!!! Oops!
I'm struggling at the moment. Have just had dinner.....the sun is shining and the deck is calling to me. Might have to make a cup of tea and go to bed to fight the urge!!
On the plus side.......my hair smells nice

Hi ya Muddles its nice to meet you
As Jillygirl has said, a massive well done to you, yippy flippin dippy doooooooo
I tried champix, it was very good, I think I quit on my 9th day of taking it but made a stupid mistake, I got cocky and didn't finish the course, so I ended up smoking again So please stick to the full course eh and I know you will do it
Nice to meet you too pete :). And thanks for the encouragement and advice! It's only 8:10 at night.....thank god this day is neatly over. I've just about got through it. One day at a time. I'm glad I've got a super busy day tomorrow as well
I will def follow your advice and do the whole course. The test will be when my partner gets home in a week. He's a smoker too altho is planning to quit early in the new year. I'm nervous (and excited too) about him being home (for good this time...he's resigned) as we are each other's worst influence!!!
In the words of one very wise and beautiful fish "just keep swimming, just keep swimming....."
Cheers Pete

Hi again Muddles, just a quicky cos got to go to bed soon, as am working nights
Your partner may quit earlier, when he smells how nice your hair and you smell now you have quit eh but please dont get on to him eh !!
Maybe change your bed sheets etc so he can smell the difference with you not smoking, if you see what I mean
Hey Muddles, you just keep on flippin swimming gal
Nice to meet you too Sue....and my name is Mardi :). It's so nice to meet such wonderful and supportive people such as yourself! As you can see above I've made it through day 1 ....... awesome feeling! (But I'd kill for a drag right now haha).
Yes lots of supportive people on this site, all wishing everyone the best with their quit, you will get there I am on 8 weeks now never thought I would get that far but I have and it's all down to mutual support. Merry Christmas x
Hi mardi, a heart attack 8 weeks ago and then having to have 5 stents fitted good enough motivation for me. I know it's hard but you will get there a day at a time, you are doing great
Hey Mardi, welcome to Day 2 and by the time you read this we'll all be fast asleep and you'll be enjoying the start of your Christmas Eve
Sounds like the Champix is beginning to work for you. When using Champix, if you notice that you are smoking less, the sooner you stop smoking completely, the better it works for you You've naturally chosen the right route, so all is good in the hood.
Remember though, that it is you who makes the Champix work, so don't think that it has been no effort from yourself.
Maybe once your partner sees how well you are doing, he'll want to join you. Let him suss that out for himself
2 days in means that there is now no nicotine left in your system, so a huge well done to you
Thanks emjay :). Was nice to wake up to this message! I hit the ground running this morning and haven't really had a chance to scratch myself! I've just sat down for a cuppa before my daughter arrives and I'M STRUGGLING!!!!!! Will have to find something else to do to keep my mind off things! Day 2 nearly done tho......phew!!!
Have a wonderful day tomorrow everyone.....keep it smoke free!!!!
Hi Mardi and welcome to our lovely community. I hope you're coping well today. Yes, you've found the right place if you really want to succeed with your quit. I bet your daughter's really proud of you. Just be thankful we haven't got all that disgusting weather to contend with this Christmas, unlike our friends on the other side of the world.
Thanks Andi for the welcome :). Yes she's proud.....she's actually on day 178 herself!!! I'm proud of HER!!! I've just sat down with a glass of wine after running all day and yes this would normally be a trigger to light up! Plus there's been several times today where I've had major "just one wouldn't hurt" moments. But I've pushed thru ...... Day 2 nearly done
You're right about the weather. It's glorious here on the NW coast of tassie.....shorts and tshirt kinda weather and lovin' it!!!
I'm just inland from Byron Bay. There's some awful weather tracking across and so far we've not had any rain or storms and are keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Well done to you Mardi, you are doing absolutely fantastic
Focus on the positive and realise that when yo are really struggling, then this in itself is a positive sign. If you continued to smoke, then you wouldn't be feeling this way, so it just shows that you are doing all the right things and heading in the right direction.
Don't worry too much as this feeling won't last forever. Okay, so it may happen over and over again, but given time all these feelings will soon disappear
I'll raise my Christmas Eve tipple to you this evening once I'm home from work
