Comprehension and Memory retention

Im new here. After the PTSD event 2 years ago I began having issues with understanding and retaining what people are saying when its new information. I get caught up on the first few words then my mind goes blank. Does anyone else deal with this and if so is there any solution to get my brain back on line? I appreciate any guidance.

Hi AllBlessings. I am new here as well and I have that same experience. It happened to me just the other day when I was at a doctors appointment and in fact it happens quite often. It can be frustrating and embarrassing. Some years ago, at the suggestion of my therapist, I started to focus on mindfulness, trying to be in the moment as they say. It was helpful at times for sure but I did not keep up the practice. After this recent lapse at the doctors office I want to again try to be more focused in the moment. I never thought ot this phenomena being a function of PTSD until I read your post so maybe it is? I don’t know. I wish you well on your journey.
